Happy New Year, guys!
I'm still a little confused about the "white" part in the "white metal mouse"... I know the year of mouse and I know this year is metal in the Chinese 5 elements, but why white?
My immediate guess is that, in Chinese philosophy, each of the 5 elements is associated with a color and a direction. Specifically, east is wood and green, west is metal and white, south is fire and red, north is water and black, and center is earth and yellow. This may be why it's a "white metal mouse". However, the color white is always associated with metal. So why specify it this time, making it look like this year is specifically a "white" metal year, as if another metal year could be black... I'm confused...
