Teams from 28 countries, as well as observers from seven other nations, are set to participate in the International Army Games, starting in Moscow and set to be contested over various locations in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China, between July 29 and August 12.
On Saturday, July 29, the opening ceremony of the International Army Games will be followed by an individual tank biathlon contest in Alabino, near Moscow.
The annual military competition has been held since 2015 on the initiative of the Russian defence ministry and has expanded ever since. This year seven countries, including Israel and Syria, will participate for the first time in the games, competing in 28 different disciplines, including contests with tanks, snipers, and different air and sea disciplines.
