Actually, that's the old Mig 1.44 proto-type, that has stood idle for a dozen years, nothing new, just a re-hash of old hopes and dreams, it likely will not be near the aircraft the T-50 already is. But it will be an opportunity for Mig to get back into the game, in a realm where they fell short of success. There are some, myself included who imagine the Mig 1.44 provided at least some encouragement for the Chinese to pursue the aft delta, forward canard pitch control??

No I do NOT think 1.44 is a direct predecessor to the J-20, but there is some common thinking and ideology, and likely some past collaboration??

PLEASE tell us more .... !!! What's that thing?

by the way here are two interesting - however sad - images showing '55' in June 2014 !
it is an aerodynamic model for a maneuverable light weight fighter tested at TsAGI`s wind tunnel, basically the potential fighter MiG might be developing or at least researching, you can call it an aerodynamic configuration that might be used for the ЛМФС/ЛФИ or light fighter to complement PAKFA

why the model shows no air inlet? is it common in wind tunnel studying? shouldn't there be at least something that represent where inlet structure should be?

Exactly, this model is what we would consider a "design study" of the wing/tail/fuselage junctures and airflows for the wind-tunnel. It likely does not represent anything other than a configuration study, but the flat belly and associated architecture tell us it is a "very high speed" configuration.

There is also no landing gear as well as ducting, so it is not a "pre-prototype".
