Hope for more orders.. at least to replace some 100-200 old Su-27's as well as successing Su-35.

Remains to be seen tho what Russia would do to their remnants of MiG-29 fleet.

Yeah, but this require more insight. It is true that more TRM = more performance. but the differences doesnt seem to be many.

The following is a simple rules of thumb of comparing ranges of AESA by just module numbers.

Now we have APG-81 vs N036. Assuming same conditions and same power rating.. the advantages of 1676 TRM would be :

Rf=((1676/1552)^3)^(1/4)
Rf=1.1

Where Rf is Range factor.

So the advantage is 1.1. Thus if N036 can detect target at 100 km.. the APG-81 will detect the same target at 110 km. I'm kinda wonder tho if 10 km advantage would be significant. Especially assuming air combat where the participants will move rather fast. If one wish to gain advantage like say, twice the detection range or a factor of 2. It would require 3910 TRM.

Yes. although i think some factors like Radar and especially RCS needs further explanation.
Interesting insight. How much does the performance of a radar depend on the type of antenna used? I've read somewhere that the Russian (supposedly Chinese) radars uses patch or slot antennas instead of notch antennas used by western radars, which makes them inferior to the western ones. I tried finding conforming this idea but could not find any substantial evidence to prove/disprove it. Is there any truth in it?

MiG-29 fleet is pretty paltry as it is. Legacy airframes have been more or less retired. Certainly from frontline units. (Though there might be a detachment of legacy planes in Armenia/Erebuni still operating on paper.) Even the ex-Algeria airframes have been taken out of active duty, apparently. So basically there's like just 16 or so newer airframes delivered in 2015/16, the 8 so-called MiG-35s delivered afterwards and the navy's K models delivered 2013 through 2015 (24 but one or two were lost in accidents).

The Su-57 received an in-fuselage long-range cruise missile

MOSCOW, October 31 – RIA Novosti. An in-fuselage long-range cruise missile was created for the Su-57, an informed source told RIA Novosti.

“For the Su-57, the latest long-range cruise missile (long-range cruise missile) has been developed for intra-fuselage placement. With a smaller size, the missile has a comparable range to those products that are used in long-range aviation on the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers.”, - said the agency’s interlocutor.

He clarified that “a significant reduction in the dimensions of the new ammunition was achieved due to the perfectly refined design of the folding wing and internal layout, as well as the use of a new small-sized bypass turbojet engine.”

Air-launched long-range cruise missiles include projectiles capable of hitting a target at a distance of 600 kilometers or more. In long-range aviation of the VKS, according to open sources, cruise missiles have a range from a thousand to 6,500 kilometers.

Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter. It was created using stealth technologies and advanced electronics. This combat vehicle is capable of carrying weapons in the internal compartments of the fuselage. The aircraft also has a supersonic cruising speed, while it is capable of maneuvering with high overloads.

It might be this cruise missile. Izdeliye 720.

Yeah, likely this one. It’s a little confusing though, one one side it’s good to have a long range cruise missile for Su 57 but at the same time, what purpose does it really serve? Isn’t a more stealthier/harder to intercept short range missile be more suitable for a VLO platform than a super long range missile? I mean this missile would work just as well when launched from a Tu-160, why work this hard to make it fit into Su 57?

They have programs for improved versions of basically every single weapon made for internal storage in the Su-57.

My guess is they figured out they could slightly modify the Kh-59MK2 and significantly improve its range and capabilities while still fitting inside the Su-57.
