Sukhoi's message over the incident with the T-50 aircraft

... The fire was quickly extinguished. The plane is to be repaired. There were no injuries. The Sukhoi Design Bureau set up a commission that will investigate the causes of the accident. ...

Sorry, and when was that posted !??? Right a few hours after that mishap
... and what have they reported in the meantime ? Nothing.

If it was so easy in fact to repair that heavily burned airframe - look at all the damage on the underside, holes in the structure and molten composites as well as loosely hanging fabrics of the parts - ... it would be a miracle if this airframe will ever fly again.

that is the only official information available and released by Sukhoi since June 2014

Sorry ! The fact alone that there was not another prototype after 055's mishap is a proof that it is delayed; by the way from what I know it is still not repaired and even more it won't ever´.
I really do not want to start a T50 vs. J-20 contest, but especially in mind of what Russian sources always tell ... and what then happens the T50 program is already heavily delayed.

Well, we could agree to disagree here . Time will tell .

Btw , T-50-6-1 is for ground and static tests only, T-50-6-2 will be flying prototype . Then according to schedule there will be two more prototypes of second phase T-50-7 and T-50-8 and that's it.

Sukhoi's message over the incident with the T-50 aircraft

Moscow, June 10. Today after the regular test flight of the T-50 aircraft at the airfield of the M.M.Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky near Moscow, while the plane was landing, a smoke above the right air intake was observed, then a local fire broke out. The fire was quickly extinguished. The plane is to be repaired. There were no injuries. The Sukhoi Design Bureau set up a commission that will investigate the causes of the accident. This incident will not affect the timing of the T-50 test program.

This is a report from the day of the mishap. What they said that day...and what actually happened after a thorough investigation are most likely two entirely different things.

From everything I have read and heard, the aircraft was not repaired.

If it was, we need to see a verified report, after the fact, and pictures of the repaired aircraft.

My guess is, like was done after the USS Cole was repaired, if this aircraft was repaired and put back in service the Russian media and government would have made a pretty big deal of it. I have not seen any of that to date.

Well, as I said, it was made the day of the incident and is something you would expect to be said.

But, since that time we have seen nothing of the aircraft, and if they had repaired it and put it back in service, they would definitely make hay with it (which is a American saying that means that they would make a big deal about it).

The longer it goes without that, and with no pics of the repaired aircraft, the more sure we can be that it did not happen.

I read on afm that they are building a T50-6-1 as a replacement for T-50-5. Seems like you only need to do that if 5 isn't flying again. But we will see.

Nope ... T-50-1 is the last stage I prototype and the first for India ....

Agreed .... let's wait and see. Anyway not exactly (see below) and that was already posted here:
https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/pak-fa-fgfa-discussions.t7155/page-5#post-320967

T50-6-1: "Stage 1" T-50, aka basically as the previous flying ones ... said to be the first for India !
T50-6-2: "Stage 2" T-50 with "significant changes"
T50-7: Static test article of Stage 2 T-50.

that is your opinion, only that.

It is my opinion that you don't understand Jeff's premise leading to his statement i.e. in this case absence of evidence is evidence of absence.
No, it is not, 055 is showed in this program from December 2014, it can be film archive previous to June 2014, maybe, maybe not, who knows? but his opinion is only his opinion, only that, is not official information
