The lead patrol icebreaker Ivan Papanin of Project 23550 was delivered to the Northern Fleet of Russia. The flag-raising ceremony on the ship took place at the Northern Fleet base in Severomorsk. The ships of Project 23550 were developed by JSC Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and have no analogues in terms of the combination of technical characteristics. Three more ships of this type are currently under construction. The patrol icebreaker is capable of breaking through ice 1.7 meters thick. The ship can be used as a tugboat, icebreaker and combat ship, it can escort and tow detained ships and perform other tasks. The ship is armed, depending on the modification, with Igla or Verba MANPADS, a 76.2-mm AK-176MA artillery mount. Up to four 12.7-mm Kord machine guns and two 30-mm AK-630M artillery mounts can be installed. The ship can be equipped with Kalibr-K, Kalibr-NK, Onyx or Zircon missiles. It is possible to base a Ka-27 or Ka-226 helicopter, a UAV and two boats. The full displacement of the military icebreaker is 8.5 thousand tons, the speed is up to 18 knots (33.3 km/h), the endurance is 70 days, the cruising range is up to 12,000 miles. The crew is from 60 to 110 people.

Russian servicemen of the engineering units of the Southern Group of Forces together with the developers of the robotic tracked drones NRTK "Courier" successfully conducted field tests of the laser mine-clearing system "Ignis". The main function of the laser system is mine-clearing by thermal heating, without detonating explosive objects. In the video from the field tests, the robotic complex "Courier" with a laser system successfully destroys mines of various types at a distance of 150 meters. This allows the disposal of explosive objects without risk to personnel. Technical information about the robot "Courier" is in the link to the video in the comments to the video.

30,000 sqm production facility open in Kazan helicopter. last year 32,000 sqm added and there several other facilities over 2.5 years. and this is just Kazan helicopter Plant that has no Ka-52/M-28/Mi-35M production. Last year when UEC made statements about 700 engines for Ka-52/Mi-8 they mentioned limitation is price not the ability. Ka-52 is the most advanced and complex machine ever built the only one that can fly extended range with uneven distribution loads at below 1m height. they called it extreme low altitude flying. they mentioned 180 degree turn at 290km/hr. only pilot mistake or maintenance deficiency can bring it down.

Rostec opens new production at Kazan Helicopter Plant

The newly created building will increase labor productivity by introducing automated lines, upgrading the technical equipment and improving working conditions.

The construction of a modern mechanical processing facility with an area of 30 thousand square meters began at Kazan Helicopter Plant in 2023.
Over the past two and a half years, several production facilities have been built and commissioned at Kazan Helicopters. In particular, in 2024, a production and training center for 3,500 students, a final assembly shop with an area of 32 thousand square meters, and a flight test complex were launched," said Rostec State Corporation CEO Sergey Chemezov.

UEC needs to increase production of serial engines several times in 2025-2026 - General Designer

Novosibirsk. November 11. INTERFAX - The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the Rostec State Corporation) needs to increase production of serial engines several times in 2025-2026, said the company's deputy director and general designer Yuri Shmotin.
In addition, Shmotin said, long-term contracts have already been signed for the production of ground-based GTD-110M gas turbine engines. At the same time, in 2024, UEC manufactured 700 serial engines of the VK-2500 type for Mi-8 helicopters and their modifications and Ka-50 helicopters.
"This is a multiple increase in production volumes," he noted.
The limitation, according to Shmotin, is the sharp increase in the cost of components from suppliers.

That is pretty massive. 700 VK-2500 engines is over twice what they used to produce. Klimov used to make 300 such engines a year pre war.

Historic average production rate of the TV3-117 engines was like 600 engines a year.

The Novgorod Scientific and Production Center "Ushkuynik" has developed the first marine drone in Russia and in the world, controlled via fiber optics. The marine drone is currently being tested in the Black Sea Fleet, taking into account its specifics. Let me remind you that Russia began to use them successfully in the Black Sea. An unmanned boat on fiber optics can be used as a kamikaze drone or transport FPV drones. Estimated technical data, the speed of the marine drone is up to 50 km / h while transporting up to 300 kilograms of cargo.
