USC launched the fifth frigate of project 22350 "Admiral Amelko"
At the shipbuilding plant USC Northern Shipyard, a ceremony was held to launch the frigate "Admiral Amelko". This is the fifth ship being built at the shipyard for the Russian Navy under project 22350 by the Northern Design Bureau of USC.
"The corporation has now reached confident rates of serial construction of these ships. Such frigates are capable of performing a wide range of tasks in the distant sea and ocean zones, which significantly enhances the capabilities of the Russian Navy. And we assume that this series will continue in the coming years," noted USC General Director Andrey Puchkov.
The arsenal of project 22350 frigates allows for air defense of other ships, support of landing operations, strikes on various land and sea targets, and anti-submarine defense. In addition, the ship has a deck that can accommodate Ka-27 helicopters in various configurations.
"Admiral Amelko" is a multipurpose surface combat ship carrying high-precision long-range missile weapons, including hypersonic "Zircon" missiles. Three more project 22350 ships are under construction at the USC enterprise.
The frigate is named after the outstanding Soviet naval commander, admiral, and candidate of naval sciences Nikolay Amelko. The ship's sponsor is the wife of the admiral's grandson — Elena Amelko.
