Looks like a VHF phase array to me.

Yes it is, Niobium SV is phased array. It's about quarter to half performance of larger RLM-M or Nebo-SVU. Still, NIobium is more compact apparently.
-------------------------------------

Also. I just cant miss the Shoigu's visit to bomb plant, where the plant head apparently claim to make Glide version of the FAB's being made there. This is FAB-1500-2600T

So lemme present you. What if FAB-1500 glide kit.
Folded condition for storage in Tu-22M3 internal bay. Maybe 2 of them can be carried at a time.

The deployed kit.

I cant give aerodynamic etc... but the logic is that the bomb will have aerospike, and canard control. The aerospike will reduce the drag of the baseline bomb hopefully without disrupting the stabilizing effect from the bomb's ballistic ring. Most of the lift will be provided by the wings.

The release aircraft would be a Tu-22M3, flying and release the bomb at 10000-12000 meters at speed of Mach .75 or high subsonic which apparently the limit for the M-54 bomb family. The rest would lies on how much L/D ratio the configuration can provide. IF it can reach value of 5 It will have 50-60 Km range. Defeating Medium-range system such as Buk, NASAMS and Iris-T ground based. But still within the envelope of S-300PT/PS and Patriot if arrived.

Any less L/D than 5 will endanger the carrier platform or only defeat short range systems. My Russian collegue already called this a meme but.. I'm sorry i just cant let Shoigu's visit passed by.

-----------------

I also take liberty to do some RCS estimates. the baseline FAB-1500-2600T, the bomb is assumed and i think a realistic one PEC. The modeling is at 35 frequencies spanning from VHF down to mmwave (0.15-35 GHz)

U64jMAq.gif

As usual the RCS are presented in Median format.

Bomb-RCS.png

Median wise, despite the Bomb's ballistic ring being strong contributor, it's still relatively small in order of 0.5-0.1 sqm across the frequencies being considered in estimation.

The modeling for the one with Glide kit is in next post as there is limitation on number of images i can put in one.

I do wonder why they have retained that weird shape for their bombs

The only thing "new" here is Peresvet. MiG-31 Kontakt was basically reviving MiG-31D ASAT program. while Sokol Echelon was, actually a program for killing high altitude balloon. Yeah, the laser in A-60 was to kill balloon. But then i guess they found new use of it to dazzle satellite.

Overview of Russian guns MT-12 Rapier removed from storage. In Russia, on one of the echelons, 100-mm towed anti-tank guns MT-12 "Rapira" were taken out of storage. How the guns will be used is still unknown. Russia has about 526 guns of this type, Ukraine also uses them, there are about 500 of them, versions T-12 and MT-12. The MT-12 "Rapira" anti-tank gun was developed in the early 1960s and is an upgrade of the 100-mm T-12 anti-tank gun. The gun can confidently hit Leopard-1, T-62 and T-64 tanks. Advantages of the gun, versatility of use, low cost of ammunition, reliability, high rate of fire up to 10 rounds per minute. The gun can be deployed to combat position in just a minute. The MT-12 anti-tank gun is also capable of firing from closed positions. To do this, the gun is equipped with an S71-40 sight with a PG-1M panoramic. The firing range of the gun is up to 8200 meters. Calculation of tools from 4 to 7 people.

Interesting that these guns were in protected enough storage to be in good conditions. Don't know if they are R or K variants. R for radar and K for launching ATGM.

A Russian soldier showed a captured Ukrainian 40mm M320A1 grenade launcher of American production. The M320 grenade launcher was developed in 2008 by the German company Heckler & Koch to replace the US Army's 40mm M203 grenade launchers. The grenade launcher is mounted under the barrel of rifles or can be used by itself. The M320 can fire all NATO grenades - high explosive, smoke and flare. For him, experimental grenades with the GLUAS unmanned aerial system have also been developed; drones launched in this way can be controlled for 90 minutes at a distance of up to 2 kilometers. The effective range of the grenade launcher is 150 meters, the maximum is 400, the error at a distance of 350 meters, plus or minus 5 meters. The grenade launcher can have a sight of day and night vision. The cost of the M320 grenade launcher is $3,500. Weight 1.5 kilograms.
