Shoigu is from Tuva Republic. He is a true product of EurASIA.
If Shoigu gets promoted, expect further development of the Eastern parts of the Russian Federation.
These are long overdue I think. Major opportunities. While Europe sleeps, the Russian giant awakens.
Russia needs to build the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline ASAP and connect their federal gas grid East to West.

gave an interview to the magazine “Vokrug Sveta”, where he spoke about the dangers of consumerism.
In an interview with Vokrug Sveta, Shoigu (among other things, the head of the Russian Geographical Society) pointed out one of the main threats to humanity.

“I will express a thought that, I think, many will not like. It seems to me that mankind is heading for its own destruction by leaps and bounds. And the reason for this is the unrestrained desire to consume,” he said.

These are not related events of developmental plane with old MIG-29.. and when you look at overall context Russia is conducting largest air operations in world in term of exercises, fire fighting and oversease base maintainance.

this 1980s built MIG-29 flying in Libya. i doubt US or Europe will actually send 1980s built aircraft on such expedition without major upgrade.

Usk-Kuyga is a town of around 1000 inhabitants on the Arctic coast of Russia's far east in the Republic of Yakutia. The regional government has agreed to take up to 50 MWe of the plant’s production.

RITM reactors are family of integral pressurised water reactors designed by OKBM Afrikantov which are usually used in pairs. Versions of the design are already used in three of the latest icebreakers - Arktika, Sibir and Ural - and are proposed for floating nuclear power plants. Construction in Usk-Kuyga will be the first deployment of the version adapted for use on land.

Lastly, why put so much energy into making a 'safe' expendable missile? It's not planned to be reused, so... why bother building it to be super safe? I mean, it is delivering a nuclear weapon after all.

Well, yes and no. Strictly according to its mission there indeed is little point in worrying about contamination along the flight path to Armageddon, but it helps if you can test it in peacetime without creating a radiological disaster each time. US sniffer planes might be around to establish what the nature of the propulsion system is - if they cannot detect anything, that might be a valuable answer in itself.
