Sea Waves said:On Monday, NOvember 18, 2013, in Sevastopol, Black Sea Fleet Commander Vice -Admiral Alexander Vitko presided over a ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the launching of RFS Kommuna. The ship saw extensive duty repairing and salvaging ships in both the First and Second World Wars and was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet in 1967. With no plans to retire the veteran ship, Kommuna was mark her centennial in commission July 24, 2015.
This ship was launched in 1912 and has seen service in the Russian Imperial NAvy, the Soviet Navy, and now the Russian Federation Navy. She was the first double hull Russian vessel.
