amphibious helicopter, which has been out of production since the mid-1980s.

Based on the long-running 13t Mi-8 platform, the variant gains a sealed, streamlined hull and side-float-containing sponsons, along with a number of other modifications to make it suitable for operating on water.

The company sees potential for a modernised version of the helicopter, which was manufactured between 1973 and 1986, to be sold to both military and civilian operators.

However, it will wait for customer demand to materialise before recommencing production, it says.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database records 44 Mi-14s as being in active service globally. Operators include Georgia’s army, the Polish Naval Air Arm, and the Syrian air force.

A single civilian example, configured for utility and fire-fighting missions, is owned by UAE-based AAL Group and is currently in storage, reveals Ascend.

The latest iteration of the heavy twin-engined Mi-8 is powered by Klimov TV3-117VM turboshafts, rated at 2,200shp (1,640kW).

Project 22160. Looks like it has two slots under helicopters deck, each for one Klub container with 4 missiles.

That would make for 8 Klubs plus AA missiles and a main gun in the front and maybe torpedoes and pantsir or something similar, am I right?

If yes, then it would be well rounded ship in my book...

Russian frigates left without engines prepared for transfer to India

The fourth and fifth Project 11356 frigates, built for the Russian Navy at the Kaliningrad Yantar shipyard, might be sent to India. A source in the Defense Ministry informed Lenta.ru of this. Such a move will make it possible to equip the ships with turbines of Ukrainian manufacture that were previously ordered but which Kiev now refuses to supply since they would be used for equipping Russian warships. The first three ships will be transferred to the Russian Navy on time.

“We have serious problems with the fourth and fifth frigates” (Admiral Butakov andAdmiral Istomin –note by Lenta.ru), said the source. “It is possible that they will be handed over to India. This will make it possible to change the passport of the end customer and receive the Ukrainian turbines for them.”According to the publications interlocutor, the military will resolve the fate of the frigates.

According to sources in the defense manufacturing industry, India expresses interest in the future augmentation of the capacity of a group of Project 11356 frigates, which have recommend themselves as successful ships with good military capabilities, and is now holding talks on the purchase of three more ships of this type as a supplement to the six supplied earlier.

The head of defense procurement at the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Anatoly Shlemov, stated in an interview with Lenta.ru that the first three Project 11356 frigates will be provided to the fleet on time and that the fate of the other two ships is currently being decided jointly with the Navy. He also noted that the rift in military and technical cooperation with Ukraine does not negatively affect the construction of the new Project 22350 frigates which will be also transferred to the Navy on time – seven ships by 2021.

On 1 July at the International Maritime Defense Show IMDS-2015 in Saint Petersburg, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Viktor Chirkov, stated that in order to compensate for the delays in the construction of the 11356 frigates, the construction of a series of small missile ships of a new type for Project 22800 is being planned.

Well that is aircraft numbered 02. Does that mean that this 02 got repainted...or is it an entirely different squadron?
I have seen numerous aircraft after this that are in the dark blue scheme.

Take with big grain of salt, but folks are claiming that all aircraft in service (delivered to actual squadrons) will have usual light blue-gray scheme like this below . Apparently, dark-blue scheme was only temporary Sukhoi paint job (yes, I find that hard to believe either) . Anyway, we should see, nothing is certain in Russia :p

Well, I have been able to find a total of twelve pictures of separate SU-35 production aircraft painted in the darker blue coloring, numbers 01-12. I have all twelve of those pictures.

I expect that is more than just a Sukhoi marketing scheme. They all have full Russian insignia with serial numbers and FOF markings. I suspect this is an entire particular squadron of twelve aircraft.

I have found what looks to be three squadrons in the lighter blue camo pattern, but only partial numeric sequences. Two squadrons that have red numbers, and apparently one squadron that has blue numbers. I currently have pictures for 19 of those aircraft.

When all four of these squadrons are completed, it will make a total of 48 production aircraft.

But it looks like one entire squadron is in the dark blue upper fuselage color and lighter blue lower fuselage.

I am going to make a Flickr Album for the SU-35 and put as many of the separate aircraft numbers as I can find.

RF-xxxxx is international designation for Russian state owned planes, therefore someone experienced in plane watching could told us RF-95243 traveled abroad to visit airshows around the globe .In that case dark blue is probably "show-of" color . But if RF-95243 didn't get around then it is possible that Russians have two distinct color schemes .

I wouldn't be surprised, if there were. Like I said it seemed almost like a unit color rather then a unified schemes service wide. And also consider that the Russians seem to have flight Dem teams for multiple types.
