Russia 5th generation fighter jet T-50 to have advanced weapons
MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Advanced weapons will be produced for a Russian fifth generation fighter jet T-50 before the end of state trials, Director-General of Tactical Missiles corporation Boris Obnosov told Russian News Service radio on Saturday.

Creation of advanced weapons for a promising frontline aircraft system is one of guidelines for the corporation, he said.

“We seek to produce weapons by the end of state trials for the warplane,” Obnosov said.

Air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles are being manufactured for T-50, the corporation chief said. Jamming protected and all-weather weapons will be placed inside the fighter jet’s body with a larger fire range.

That is a rather dishonest article. The US military spend is ten times as large as that of Russia. Russian nuclear weapons are clearly ment for deterrence only. I copied recently an article I found on Zero Hedge ( to where? I think the Ukraine thread ) from a man who told about his working breakfast with a high Pentagon official in 2010 who told him that Russia was the main enemy in the eyes of the Pentagon and that the use of US nuclear weapons was considered in a possible confrontation. The Russians are aware of that and so do not openly interfere in Ukraine.
The Forbes article should be seen as Cold War propaganda.

Delft, lets dispense with hear say. That article is just that, someone talking about something that someone said to him at a breakfast. Nothing documented, sourced or verified.

Also, nuclear war scenarios are forbidden on SD.

All of the nuclear nations have their weapons principally for deterrence. Let's just leave it at that.

2 new ICBM planned also another derivative of SS-27 mod 1, SS-27 Mod 3/RS-26 and after the successor of SS-18 the big ICBM ever built the Sarmat.

Naval Today said:
Russian Navy’s second Mistral-class helicopter carrier Sevastopol has been floated out of Saint Nazaire shipyard’s dry dock in France.

Sevastopol is one of two Mistral-class vessels ordered by the Russian Navy.

A military diplomatic source, quoted by RIA Novosti, said that the Russian Defense Ministry has given the task of transferring the first Mistral-class vessel Vladivostok from Saint-Nazaire (France) to St. Petersburg (Russia) to Russian Deputy Navy Commander Vice Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov.

The $1.6 billion deal for two Mistral-class ships for the Russian Navy was announced in December 2010, but encountered difficulties in September 2014, when French President François Hollande announced the halt of delivery of the first warship, Vladivostok, due to Moscow’s alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis.

A number of NATO countries, primarily the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland, have repeatedly tried to persuade France not to deliver the Mistral-class ships to Russia.

The Mistral-class helicopter carriers are 199 meters long, 32 meters wide and can reach a maximum speed of 29 knots. With a displacement of 22,600 tonnes, the vessels can carry up to 481 passengers, as well as 16 helicopters, four landing craft and 70 armored vehicles, Russia Beyond The Headlines writes.

As far as I understand, France still has an indefinite hold on the delivery of both of these vessels. The first, the Vladivostok already completed builder's sea trials.

The aim of the Russians is to in one swoop reset their entire armored Vehicle forces to a modern types.

Very Nice. The boomerang is mounting a 57mm gun as we were talking about in the APC/IFV thread. This is somewhat along the lines of what I was thinking. I my mind I was envisioning a light tracked vehicle with a couple of ATGM mounted on the side of the turret.

No Atom mounts the 57mm Boomerang is stated as going for a conventional 30mm Russian Auto cannon. Atom however does show what we may see in Boomerang a 8x8 wheeled IFV platform with modern features. Perhaps down the line a heavy gun boomerang IFV will emerge. As is it is stated as having a assault gun variant.
