I can understand the Russians getting rid of what would probably otherwise have become expired ammunition for the RBU-6000. But this seems kind of marginal. It can barely operate outside of ATGM range. Should be kind of dangerous to operate. You would better off with the Grad MLRS.
The Russians had a lot of Czech Let L-410 aircraft bought from former COMECON member Czechoslovakia during Soviet times. That is why they used this engine in the design in the first place. It was readily available. The Czechoslovak Let L-410 competed against the Soviet Beriev Be-30 but in the spirit of "brotherly cooperation" the Soviet Union bought the Czechoslovak aircraft.
This engine used to be called the Walter M601H-80. Made in the Czech Republic. Then GE bought the engine manufacturer. But I think it is still being made in the Czech Republic.Currently, the UTS-800 is equipped with a General Electric H80 engine. It is planned that the aircraft will receive a Russian VK-800SM turboprop engine.
