So comfortably in excess of Mach 2.0 (for those interested, in the ball park of Mach 2.3-2.4 and change, depending on altitude).

Now for the really interesting part: can we infer from this that the infamous Mikhailov quote about the "speed requirement" being relaxed to Mach 2.0 on structural grounds was referring to supercruise rather than top speed after all? The original statement did not specify either way, though the journalists reporting added their own interpretation of it meaning one or the other, depending on which source you consulted. Generally, people tended to take it as referring to maximum dash speed in reheat.

But part of me was always wondering if he wasn't talking about supercruise. It did not seem to make sense that the Su-57, with many aspects of its configuration more strongly geared toward high-Mach performance and using the same sort of materials, would be slower in top speed than the F-22. At least not once it got its definitive engines.

If this thing was designed to cruise at Mach 2.0 in dry thrust though, that would certainly explain some of the more idiosyncratic design choices, first and foremost the hotly debated variable intakes. And it would make sense of Mikhailov's quote, because steady state cruise (as opposed to a transient dash without hitting thermal equilibrium) at that sort of speed would definitely push the temperature limits of composite materials.

As I said before this Uki war demolishes the myth of Western weapon superiority Russian defense minister Shoigou said. We see it ourselves in this thread.

  • Sergei Shoigu says the war is "debunking many myths" that NATO military standards are superior.
  • He bragged that even Russia's Soviet-era weapons fared better in some cases than Western equipment.
  • Shogiu said Russia would share findings about the "weaknesses" in NATO weapons with its partners.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu bragged on Tuesday that the Kremlin has shown the West's military technology is not all it's chalked up to be.
"The Russian army debunked many myths about the superiority of Western military standards," Shoigu said at a security conference attended by Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu.
He said it was now "obvious" that NATO weaponry, modern war doctrine, and training "cannot ensure superiority on the battlefield,"

"In many cases, even Soviet-made equipment surpasses Western models in its combat qualities," Shoigu boasted further, though he cited no detailed information or evidence to support his claim.

Shoigu added that through the war, Russia has obtained data on the destruction of weapons systems like German tanks, US armored vehicles, British long-range missiles. He did not go into further detail.

Russian naval combat module Narwhal for protection against naval drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Russian NPO Elektromashina presented a new shipborne remote-controlled combat module Narwhal, designed to destroy surface, coastal targets, air and sea drones. The module is designed for installation on light boats with a displacement of up to 20 tons. The module is equipped with a 12.7 mm Kord machine gun and can hit targets, presumably at ranges up to 6,000 meters. To compensate for rolling in rough seas and shooting on the move, the Narwhal is equipped with a three-plane gyro-stabilized system, as well as an automatic target tracking machine. The Narwhal complex consists of a day camera, a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder. Additionally, it is planned to install a weather station, a complex of all-round visibility, a radar with a detection range of up to 600 meters and means of defense against high-precision weapons.

Drone "Gadfly" with homing on the target is shown in Russia. The Russian upgraded FPV drone "Gadfly" received a target homing system developed with the help of neural networks. As reported, the system allows you to attack both static and dynamic targets, the accuracy of its application is about 90%. The updated drone received a new propeller group and software. The cost of the Gadfly drone is about 40,000 rubles, or $480.

What the war has shown is that western equipment does not guarantee victory in war, but it does guarantee greater crew survival than its Russian counterparts and this is proven fact.

I am not so sure about that The failure of the Uki to break thru using armor necessitate them to change strategy and leave the protection of armor. And use a small batch of infantry to infiltrate the Russian line. that means WWI style of fighting using trenches as protection. But technology has caught up with them and there is no place to hide. Where they were butchered by cheap FPV drones. After all that is the purpose of the armor The end result is more Uki casualty. I have a video to prove it but just too graphic
