Russian FPV drone "Hortensia" began to be mass-produced. In Russia, many FPV drones are now being produced, most of them are assembled in small volumes from parts purchased in online stores, but few have reached large production volumes. One of the design bureaus in St. Petersburg began to produce them on an industrial scale. A new Russian FPV drone "Hortensia" is being assembled in the Design Bureau. Production volumes are quite large, up to 3,000 drones per month, drones are already being purchased by Russian units and volunteers. So far, little is known about the Hydrangea drone, the range of the drone is up to 3 kilometers, the flight time is up to 8 minutes, and the payload weight is up to 2 kilograms. The drone can fly in EW environments and uses gimbals for a variety of munitions.

I have heard the terms Gadfly or Ovod, and Upyr or Vampire in connection to Russian FPV drones and it maybe that we are seeing differently manufactured FPV drones being used in the field.

Russia reinforces fleet with project 22800 corvettes, review. Russia continues to reinforce its fleet with new ships; a new small missile ship "Cyclone" of project 22800 "Karakurt" has entered the Black Sea Fleet. The small rocket ship "Cyclone" of the new project 22800, although it is considered small, carries quite serious weapons. Project 22800 small corvettes are the newest ships in the Russian fleet, the first of which entered service in 2018. Now the fleet has four ships of this project, in total it is planned to build 16 ships. Ships of the 22800 series are designed to destroy enemy targets in the coastal zone and destroy warships in the near sea zone. The hull of the ship is made of an armored aluminum alloy, the ship was created using stealth technology and has a modular design, which makes it easy to upgrade it. The main weapon of the ship is the 3S14 universal shipborne rifle complex, designed for eight Caliber-NK sea-based cruise missiles, they can also be equipped with the same number of Onyx anti-ship missiles. The ships are equipped with AK-176 MA-01 artillery mounts with a firing range of up to 15 kilometers and AK-630 artillery mounts on the first ships of the project. They also have two pedestal machine-gun mounts with a caliber of 14.5 mm, air defense systems of the Pantsir-ME air defense system from the third ship of the series and Verba MANPADS. The ship has an Oralan-10 UAV on board. The displacement of the ship is up to 900 tons, the maximum speed is up to 65 km/h. The range is up to 2800 miles. The crew is 39 people. The approximate cost of the Project 22800 ship is 2 billion rubles, or $22 million.

Uralvagonzavod has shipped a new batch of Russian T-90M Proryv tanks and modernized T-72B3M tanks of the Russian army. Over the past year, the company has increased the production of military equipment by more than three times. Manufactured armored vehicles, especially tanks, are now in demand by the Russian army. The plant is currently operating in three shifts. The upgraded T-72B3M tanks appeared in 2022, we talked about it, in fact, the tanks approached the T-90M Proryv tank in some characteristics.

Russian soldiers began to use the Drozd drone detector. Russian military personnel began to use the Drozd drone detector. The Russian drone detector "Drozd" is a fairly simple device, it does not have a signal frequency indication scale level and instead emits an audible signal, the tone of which varies with the strength of the signal. When the drone detector is activated, the soldier simply points it in the direction of the suspected location of the drones and captures the sound signals of the device. After detecting the direction of the radiation source, devices against drones begin to work in this direction. It is worth noting that the drone detector is affected by the radiation of WI-FI routers and other active devices, so it is better to use it away from populated areas. The device captures analog and digital video transmission signals, radio remote controls at frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz.
The signal reception distance is up to 3 km, the capture angle is 120 degrees in line-of-sight conditions, the continuous operation time is 33 hours. Drozd drone detector is available for sale, the price of the device is 25,000 rubles or $275.

MC-21 originally started out life as the Yak-242 project. Back then it was supposed to use the PS-90 engine.

1690757654748.png

It was meant to be a Yak-42 airliner replacement.

MC-21 ended up being a collaborative design by several design teams. But the main fuselage was still designed by Yakolev.
Somewhere between then and now, the engines were switched to PD-14, and the wing was changed to carbon fiber.

UAC basically merged together the transport aircraft design teams (i.e. Yakolev, Sukhoi) as one single organization under parent company Irkut. They also got control of the factories which make the MC-21 and Superjet.

A Russian missile boat hits a corvette with a Moskit missile. The Russian Black Sea Fleet conducted exercises to destroy a target training vessel with an anti-ship missile system with 3M-80 Moskit missiles. The Mosquito anti-ship missile was fired from the Ivanovets small missile boat of project 12411-M, technical information about the ships of this project is in the link to the video in the comments to the video. A decommissioned corvette was used as a target ship. The P-270 "Mosquito" missile makes a "slide" after launch, and then descends to a cruising flight altitude of about 20 meters, when approaching the target, it drops to 7 meters. The missile has a range of up to 120 km and a mass of 3.95 tons, the mass of the warhead is 300 kg, even a cruiser can be sunk with a missile.

The creators of the Russian Lancet kamikaze drones continue to share information about their drones and show their use. At the moment, it is known that Lancet drones hit 32 air defense systems, 37 tanks, 87 self-propelled guns of various types, 15 MLRS, 114 guns and mortars, 35 radar stations in Ukraine. This is an approximate statistic of Lancet drone strikes. The scale of the use of the Lancet drone is such that at the beginning of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army, 60 pieces of equipment were hit by the Lancet drone in 4 days. Combat work of the calculation of the drone "Lancet" in Ukraine in the video.

The Russian Air Force has received a batch of modernised MiG-31 fighter-interceptors
31.07.2023
The United Aircraft Corporation has handed over to the Russian Defence Ministry a batch of modernised MiG-31 fighter-interceptors with enhanced capabilities, the corporation’s press service said.
“Nizhny Novgorod’s Sokol Aviation Plant has handed over to the Russian Defence Ministry a batch of MiG-31 fighter-interceptors, which have undergone repair and modernisation. The work was carried out under the state defence order. The aircraft were sent to the airfields of permanent basing,” the report says.
The UAC added that the fighters returned to service have the same flight characteristics that were laid down in their design, but at the same time received wider functions and capabilities.
UAC CEO Yury Slyusar, quoted by the press service, noted that the modernisation of the MiG-31 is one of the core competencies and the most important activity of the Sokol aircraft building plant in Nizhny Novgorod.
“The enterprise fulfils its obligations to provide the Russian army with the necessary aircraft. The work will continue within the framework of fulfilment of the current year’s contracts,” Slyusar said.
