What USA will gonna do against Russia nuclear weapons, since that power, the nukes, allows Russia to
smash Georgia for daring to kill Russian soldiers in a declaration of War, if USA would gonna side with Georgia war against Russia at all

No one meddled in the USA war against Afghanistan.
USa will not be fool enough to start a war with Russia, not while they don´t have their global missile defense in place.

USA recognises Kosovo against Serbia territorial integrity.
Russia recognises South Ossetia against Georgia territorial integrity, where there lives Russian ethnic population.

Ever if you accept that USA has the right to infringe on Serbia independence and Russia
can´t do the same against Georgia, the Russian nuclear weapons tells different, it´s nukes tells that Russia will recognizes South Ossetia autonomy and that
Georgia attack, by killing russians, is a declaration of War.

What USA will gonna do against Russian Nuclear weapons and
against Russia recognition of South Ossetia rigth for self determination.

Russian nuclear weapons can decimete powerfulll America so USA can´t go to war with Russia without commiting suicide.
Now, if Russia would gonna to the end in the war in south ossetia, is another subject.
If i was Russia general, Georgia would be destroyed now

it is more about political and economical than just military. China still rely heavily on western technologies for its industry. We are improving is these areas, but it takes time. A booming economy is what China needs right now, to grow and build a solid infrastructure with a strong technological base.

Taiwan is just a highly symbolical island. It's not like it will swim away by itself. There is no reason to spill any blood over this issue.

As for Georgia, they really picked a bad time. US does not want to directly confront with the Russians, economically, Russians actually held an upper hand with all those oils.
But, I doubt Russia would push it too hard.

I have watched a video on CNN claiming Russia have already begun bombing and attacking Georgia. Also the Georgian president have ask U.S. and her allies to "wake up".

Hello all,
Please do not discount the ability of Georgia to fight and win this war with Russia, Now, I am sure many of you are thinking me insane. But, Georgia has been receiving massive training, arming and most of all real time Intel for years from the the U.S, Israel and Germany.

I predict that russian will get bogged down in the ossentian captial and then destroyed in zone by a better trained Georgian force. Russia will have to go all out on this one to win. But, as we speak tens of thousands of Georgian reservists are being called up and the whole two thousand battle hardened Iraq force is being airlifted back to Georgia.

Again, from talking to U.S national guard/special forces the Georgian army has become a very aggressive professional force while having the ability to form up a massive army through reserve call up based off of a Israeli system. It can launch multi battalion sized operations both with elite light infantry/ATGW, armoured units and very good GPS assit Arty/MRLS with limited air and air defense units.

This will be a bloody war that will either destroy Putin or Georgia or both. I foresee some major russian setbacks in the next few weeks with hundreds of Russians dead if not thousands in 30 days. This could indeed bring in other party's. This could get way out of hand BUT, many in the pentagon believe that Russia must be put in check for many reasons and will continue to back Georgia.

In closing Ossetia is a integral part of Georgia with s. Ossetia not being recognized by the UN. Russia has invaded its smaller neighbor...period..and will soon learn what it means to fight a professional army with the intent to win....cheers ute.

No, it doesn't - it supposedly recognises Georgian sovereignty. But it uses the silly excuse that some people there have Russian passports to interfere. It would be like the US invading Shanghai because there are US citizens there.

As to why the Georgians attacked the South Ossetians when they did, last week 400 Russian Army Railroad Troops finished reconstructing a railroad that had been effectively destroyed during fighting back in 1992. The rebuilding of this railroad made it possible for Russian troops across the frontier in North Ossetia to mount up and move to Forming-Up Positions (FUPs) in a matter of hours. Check out past editions of Eurasia Daily Monitor on this. Since the spring, the Russian 58th Army has been moving into positions along the Georgian frontier; evidently those preparations are sufficient for now, since elements of a what appears to be a Russian Army division have not only crossed into South Ossetia, but have now fought their way into the South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali today (BBC I think it was), and the Georgians appear to have been partially forced out of the town.

Whether Georgia could pull this off or not (I hope Utelore's right), as soon as that Russian Army Railroad Troops Battalion finished rebuilding the derelict railroad last week, it was clearly now or never for the Georgians. Not to mention that Russia will never willingly allow any Caucasian state to join NATO if it can help it. Never.

Let's see what occurs not only in South Ossetia and Georgia itself, but also Abkhazia too over the coming days and weeks. And like Sampan Viking said, let's keep an eye on what happens in Ukraine too; a very large wheel has just started turning.

Report-russian armoured recon battalion conducted operations in force in northern ossetia capital, some elements have been encircled by Georgian special forces and are being hit with MLRS/Arty fire.

Georgian forces did a tactical fall back to let the Russians in and are now destroying this battional/recon force in zone with Arty/MLRS and special forces. Heavy russian casualties.

also reports of large movement of forces near abkasian border of both sides. Whole russian division deloying into Geogia with a army Group ready to take action.

Russia has complete air superiority, Georgia is a conventional army unlike the Chechens, thus their army is more vunerable. Russians are willing to take causalties, it will look worse for them if they are forced to retreat. More and more troops will be poured in, if ceasefire is not called soon.

In regards to US reference at end. Since involved in the war on terror in the muslim world, countries like China and Russia have been allowed free hand diplomatically because the US is in no position to stop them. Now with Russians on the warpath the US is furthur weakened in region, unless Georgia succeeds.

Lastly, if things go badly for Georgia the US is partly responsible for building up the nation as an ally by sending in military trainers and hopes of Nato membership. Hence Georgia wrongly believed US will intervene. For us we have wait and see what happens.

Even with reserves the Georgian military numbers at under 140,000 troops, with only 37,000 active personel. They possess less than 200 MBTs and 100 fighter aircraft... the Russians can bomb away the entire Georgian military just with their air force. No matter how well trained the Georgians are they can't overcome the massive Russian numerical superiority or air superiority.

After all, the Germans in WWII were the most technologically advanced, well-trained, and professional force in the world up to that time period and they were decimated by a much more modest Russian advantage in numbers.

Georgia is playing with fire here. Russia is a far stronger opponent and there is no way that America will risk a direct intervention, for a start they won't have the troops for it, they're still heavily committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have significant air power based at Incirlik in Turkey which could be used in support of Georgian forces but that would pave the way for World War 3. The Russians feel they have suffered nothing but humiliation since 1991 as American and NATO troops have ended up stationed almost on their borders. Places like South Ossetia are issues of huge emotional significance for them, they are not going to let South Ossetia turn into another Kosovo. They feel they've been pushed into a corner and can't go back any further. If this turns into a full scale war then I can only see one winner.
