hi am a newbie here,
so hopefully some humble opinions:
1) two are the most technological , military expansive and sucessful empires in about the same era.
2) both faced invasions from tribes and most of the time manage to turn the tide against the tribes.
3) and if you really didnt noticed , both were actually dependent on each other economically. silk from china , glass & dyes from rome.
4) they are separated from long distance and hence will never go at each other.
5) even with the numerical advantage, stronger metals and more horses on the asian side , rome can also boast better infantry equipment, hardened veterans and better wood.
6) the only winning point will come to skills and strategy over each other, both have excellent generals and good leaders. aurelius in rome, wudi in han respectively.
any questions?
p.s long range weapons would have played a part but both armies are equally strong defensively making them hard to be on the offensive in the first place.
