global warming aka global climate change is supposed to be the shift in the planet's overall temperature a few degrees higher, however the science behind this has been in question as the projected temperature changes that should have taken place in the last 15 years have not. The secondary effects of global climate change are supposed to be super storms or more storms yet if you look at the data there is no evidence of that either.
everything seems to say that we still don't know jack about our planet.
there seems to be some unknown mechanism at work, perhaps the fact that the projected solar maximum that should have just happened with huge solar flares turned out to be a dud might have a effect we just don't get.

You got that right! Global warming is embraced (by the governments) not because of any “science,” (that sham is for the “useful idiots,”), but because it is a justification for a government takeover of the energy industry, with massive increases in regulation, taxes, carbon credits and government spending.

And as the temperatures begin to drop (which the last 10 year trend has been showing) then Government along with the quack scientist will begin to call it "Climate Change" due to global warming.

And anyone that corrects them with facts will be minimalized and ridiculed in the news media

that's a very old joke, it gets tossed around with minor edits from time to time sometimes the ship is American, sometimes Canadian or in this case British. I posted a video a while back which was a commercial for a navigation system that used it.
as always the story is told with the statement that its a real event. Although in this case that's a bit difficult... The last Royal navy ship of the line to bare the name HMS Britannia was a King George the Seventh Battleship commissioned in 1909.

My Goodness! This is hilarious! I want to know the response by the British Captain...
Well, this is an old naval joke that has been around my entire life, and I am sure much longer.

In this case the Aircraft Carrier, HMS Britiannia, actually never existed.

However, had it existed, or if this story is based on a real life event that occurred some time...the thing that the captain of the large vessel would ultimately do is change their course on hearing he was intercepting a light house. But he may have done so without furhter embarassing himself with another response.

exactly what i said.
in the not to distant future, a pacific version of this joke will appear where in it will be a Australian light house and the Leiong farther in the future the lighthouse will become a moon or planet.

Very old joke indeed.. back in '72 there was an USN version using Enterprise as the ship involved. Of course it all just a joke.

There's a more recent version using Abraham Lincoln as the ship..one problem with that that joke has Abraham Lincoln operating in the Atlantic when indeed it is a Pacific fleet CVN.

I wonder, with the firepower of the entire CBG, if they can level the lighthouse enough to pass through... I mean emptying all the missiles/bombs on all the vessels, including IBCMs on the subs...

Its not the lighthouse its the rocks and obstacles it marks. As to clearing the magazines to open up the seas the risks would be to high, first as George C Scott put it "getting our Hair mushed" the fall out and debris from the blasts raining down.
second you have to get the ocean floor opened enough to allow enough sea between your heaviest largest ships keel and the ocean floor.
