Hence there was a conscious decision to become closer to the US. But situation today is that everyone in Asean can see that Singapore is more like an outpost of the West in south East Asia, and the least amiable to China in what it does. Singapore today is caught between the rock and the hard place. It is actually highly fragile, being highly dependent on others for business and resources. Singapore leadership is still basking in glory and using same formula of past success, i.e promoting best business environment for Western multi-nationals.

Nothing time can't solve. When Chinese companies dominate the global economy Singapore will follow suit and shift, as that is the only way they can guarantee their prosperity

To be Chinese in Singapore is a bad thing. @dengyeye being Chinese is 'shameful'
Wow!!! I thought Singapore is a Sophisticated Country, My adopted country had finished that chapter in our history and we emerged victorious and they called the Filipinos savage, it's a perfect example of assimilation Filipino style NOT the Singlish type.

The Hokkien and Teochew that Singaporeans speak sound like shit. Cantonese that Hong Kongers speak is like refined, prestigious, beautiful, soothing dialect.

If you've ever been across the border to Malaysia you will find the huaqiao there are much better looking. So we can confidently say it's not a matter of climate. Someone needs to commission a study on this topic. I believe it is of academic importance. Why are Singaporean huaqiao so much uglier than their counterparts?
Chinese Malaysian music is awesome! still listening to 爱自己更深 by DIOR.
