I miss mp.net. I do. I posted thousands upon thousands of photos there. They closed down May 1st.

What I miss is the comments on the photos I posted and the PMs I received asking questions about the USN photos..but most of all I miss counting how many "hits" I got on the pictures...in the Weekly or Daily photo thread the numbers were in the thousands...

Now on to another subject. Several members have PMed me asking me to return as a mod.....Not going to happen..that is one reason why I do not post as popeye very often. I don't want ANYONE thinking I'm still a mod or desire to be a mod..

So the other day I was at a doctor's appointment, and overheard a conversation between an elderly woman and a middle-aged receptionist.

The elderly woman started by complaining that the TTC (that's the Toronto public transit) was going to give out free rides, paid for by the taxpayers.

The receptionist paused for a long moment, then asked: "Everybody?".

No, the elderly woman said, just the athletes for the Pan-Am games. (Toronto is hosting the Pan-Ams this summer.) She then goes on to complain how the TTC was wasting her money.

At this point, I was rolling my eyes. Oh noes, free public transit for Pan-Am athletes! What a waste of public funds!

Then the receptionist started complaining about how the TTC already gives free rides to kids under 12 (a recent development). Her argument was that if the schools had enough money for class trips, they should have enough money for bus tickets.

(I'm pretty sure she just doesn't like sharing a train or bus with 20 kids.)

After a few more rounds of complaining about "fat-cat TTC executives", the elderly woman caps the conversation with: "and what do the people who built this country get?"

I have a feeling she wasn't talking about the Native Americans...

I wish you lots of luck. At least you don't have to worry about another flooding coming to Houston with possibly Tropical Storm Bill in the next 48 hours. So you guys might not here from me for awhile.

It wasn't too bad in comparison to the floods in Memorial Day three weeks ago. Most of the heavy rain came south of Houston/Galveston area in the Gulf coast.

We had some flooding at the UT area and the campus shut down. Didn't see any of that at my house, fortunately.
