Unless the PLA is willing to ditch the QBZ-95 in lieu of the
QBZ-X we have a thread on a perspective new rifle down the pipe.
QBZ95 was designed in the late 80s early 90s it’s a fair system but not easily adapted to more modern views of accessories.
There have been retrofitted systems but they basically are either a patch on fix or a total rebuild.
They tried to patch issues with the QBZ95-1 but in the process they realized that the gen 0 round was lacking so they retooled it to the round they had been using for the Type 88 rifle and LMG.
But again this seems to have been a patch. And it means questioning the function of Specialized GPMG Type 88 and DMR Type 88.
Along the way the PLA started work on there OICW which I would compare more to the K11. But based off the QBZ03.
Well they seem to have chosen to issue those to some units purely.
From this has it seems to have spun off the QBZ-xx the new rifle well looking into more modern trends. Modular system with modern trends for optics.
Photos of training and evaluations of the QST-11 have shown a majority of the squad issued them. These may be specialized as Scouts, Fire support, Ranger like elements meant to serve as combat fire brigades.
