High-resolution images. Note the underslung grenade launcher has a built-in foregrip that's also part of the trigger guard.

If that is indeed a new grenade launcher, the geometry of it is reminiscent of an angled foregrip.

Carrying and firing your rifle with a UBGL attached is certainly not as practical without a UBGL -- so I imagine every extra little bit of controllability helps.

I personally cannot recall any other UBGL with a similar geometry before, but would be happy to be corrected.

Not about China. But good for showing why the QBZ-191 is not very high-end. A truly gold-plated rifle the HK416 costs 1800 Euro in Germany. That is arguably a waste for an assault rifle, especially if you are not expecting a major land war.
HK rifles always felt overpriced for what they offer. If we were to make the exact same rifle with the same quality, it would be priced a lot more reasonably. Besides the ambidextrous charging handle and the use of steel instead of polymer, if we were to slap a pre-floating handguard on the QBZ 191, what advantages does the HK416 offer that the QBZ 191 doesn't and if any advantage it does have is worth that price tag?
