Gun Enthusiast and Professional Shooter from IDPA Competitor Team seems to have access to the QBZ191 for testing purposes and practice on it while issuing feedback.

Also censored QBZ191 kimda looks like AK19.

I wouldn't be surprised that Sino-Russian military cooperation and defense pact influenced both this and the xingkong camo, easier to cross train and ID each other.

I doubt that assertion very much. If the aim was comononality than both sides should have developed a common caliber and or rifle. This was tried both in the Warsaw Pact and NATO, with AKM and FAL.the 7.62x39mm and 7.62x51mm. Yet that is not the case. That we have is convergent evolution based on common aim and design base. In this case the aims. For both the AK12 and QBZ191.
That common aim being a conventional rifle configuration in a carbine length. With modern materials and accessory interfaces using a multipoint telescoping stock. Retaining a preexisting retro compatible magazine and caliber of a intermediate class .22-.23 caliber.
The existing magazines from the AK74 and QBZ95 series as well as ammunition dictated the magazine well that intern set design aspects for large portions of the rifle. Both the Chinese and Russians are also chose to follow a rail system. The AK12,15 and 19 retain almost every aspect of the AK74 series controls and long stroke gas system. This means that it has the double duty dust cover/selector. Where other AK variants like the IWI Gailil, Tanta, and IWI Ace have moved to the separate selector switch which was even trailed on the AK200 but dropped for the AK400 series.
The PLA QBZ191 started with the magazine and ammunition the 5.8x42mm. The original prototype guns used to trail this ammunition family were derivative of the type 81 rifle. The type 87. Type 81 broke from the AK series using the short stroke gas system. One of the most critical changes made in that design for training was the redesign of the selector switch from the dust cover to a dedicated switch. This style has remained thought the QBZ03 to QBZ191 which now has mirrored it on both sides. The 191 is likely short stroke and has a straight line from muzzle to butt vs the AK which has more angle. The sock is fixed vs the folder. What we have in common is rails, Yet how they get them is also different and requires a dramatically different break down.
Basically the resemblance is less than skin deep. A Soldier would have an easier time transitioning from QBZ191 to G36 than AK. Or AK19 to Galil. Put another way the QBZ191 has about as much much in common with AK19 as either of them have with FN SCAR.

Are there any gun ranges in China where people can fire old civil war/ww2 rifles? Not referring to those professional shooting ranges, more like those backyard ones with grass lanes and wooden shacks

I doubt it given the strict gun control laws in China. Even professional range tethers the guns to the gun mount and shooters are provided limited ammos.

There are gun ranges, as long as you are willing to shoot .22LR cartridges in an incredible price ,the common choice would be “travel to Philippine ”

would be great if the QBV/U191 MLOK provided some modular features such as an Slider, being able to Slide the rail below the Hanguard to multiple degrees back and forth, it would allow for more comfort and overall preference for the sharpshooter being able to adjust the position of the rail.

possibly allow for Thumb over bore grip as well while making it compatible with multiple grip attachments
