PLAN's MK41 has been successfully tested

I don't think the article says anything about that. But it's a common VLS, interpret that how you will :-/

We'll have to wait. If the next class of destroyers tops at near 10000 tonnes in displacement, it would suggest that the ship would be more multirole than air defense and thus the VLS could hold cruise missiles and anti ship missiles as well.

These could also potentially be deployed on submarines; the Type 095 has been rumored to incorporate vertically launched cruise missiles.

Not only SAMs and cruise missiles, but also ASW missiles too finally.

I think they claim the VLS is launching HQ-16...

But I think the VLS is not the exact one on 054A, and the missile that's being fired isn't HQ-16 either, if anything it looks a bit like HQ-9.
So assuming the missile from the last two pics are being fired from the VLS in the first pic, maybe this is the chinese "Mk 41 VLS" we heard of a while ago... assuming it's chinese?
Also interesting that it looks like hot launch? hmmm

It looks a bit like the "Universal VLS for 'BrahMos' & 'Club'"

Hmm

One with the arm lever could be an early testing version or something like that. The missile reminds me of the

This is great news for the PLAN as this new technology will be able to narrow the gap between PLAN and Western navies. What a fantastic year it has been so far!

You should change "western navy" to USN

Really in general PLAN is more powerful and more modern than most western navies
