I can see Kilos and a Song in one picture, a 093 and a 094 on the other. There is a flotilla of Kilos stationed in Sanya, with four Kilos, and a flotilla of Songs, though one of the subs in this flotilla is the first Yuan. At least two 093s, probably one or two 094 and one of the modded Hans.

Makes them harder to spot from the air while they are close to the surface. More important for earlier subs with snorkles and who surfaced to attack at night. Its little more then a tradition these days imo, but the paintjob might help when a sub is close to the surface for a perascope peek or firing off cruise missiles i supose. Although it would be hard to think of a reason why a sub would choose to do either of those things when there are hostile aircraft overhead.
Personally, i would expect a medium grey to do a better job these days.

I know that reason.Kilo-class and Song has long time been a black, 092 has already changed to black.
I just suspect that 093,094 turned black and not believe my eyes ..
