I wonder if the Type 095 SSN will have the ability to launch cruise missiles like the Virgina Class

The Block V boats are due to have a plug, known a as payload module inserted into the middle of the boat this module will have the ability to launch robots, under water UAV, diver and special forces and also could carry up to 7 Tomahawk cruise missiles

This means each Block V will carry more than 40 Tommys and 10 boats are planned between 2019 and 2023 they will replace the four SSGN the Ohio Class

Even then 10 Block V will carry only 65% of the tommy that four Ohio SSGN carry but it means 10 units and more dispersion around combat zones

A Ohio Class carrys 154 missiles and USS Florida launched over 90 tommy in the opening of Libya campaign

The 095 cruise missile setup is most likely like the setup on the Improved LAs, but a modular system isn't out of the question given the improvements in Chinese modular construction.

Wasn't there a big shrimp rumour a while ago that a new submarine VLS was being tested, that could hold either one "large fish" or many "small fishes"?

Many interpreted that as a single "modular" VLS able to launch either one SLBM or many smaller SLCMs.

The plaque of 032 a while ago said the submarine will be designed to test SLBMs and SLCMs, which lends credence to the idea. Certainly it makes more sense to design a more modular VLS system that you can just "swap out" payloads from.

Those 90 tommies were wasted. Today Libya is totally unstable with various rebel groups refuse to disarm. They should left Qaddafi in power. At least he kept the country in order.

90 missiles were launched whatever happened in the political arrangement is nothing to do with Ohio Class, I was stating the facts of the launch from submarine

Submarine warfare is on a another level when it comes to intelligence
Spend 100M$ on the equipment developement vs spend 15k$ to buy informations. Warfare have that advantage that it works 24 hours a day, don't lie and won't get you in the game worth a human life.

Normally, intelligence services would not release noise levels of enemy subs, even if they are high. This would tell the enemy to make improvements on their subs. It was a U.S. spy, John A. Walker, who gave info to the Russians that their subs were emitting too much noise due to propeller cavitation. After the Russians redesign their propellers to reduce cavitation, the noise level of their subs have decreased significantly.

The cavitation story sound unlikely. Cavitation is a very obvious source of noise and has been for a long time, so any operator of submarines would have detected it during testing and before commissioning since the middle of the last century if not before. Also cavitation is less of a problem for submarines when dived.

Capt. Bart Mancuso: [after hearing Jones's findings] Have I got this straight, Jonesy? A $40 million computer tells you you're chasing an earthquake, but you don't believe, and you come up with this on your own?
Seaman Jones: Yes, sir.
Capt. Bart Mancuso: Including all the navigation maps?
Seaman Jones: Sir, I-I've got all the...
Capt. Bart Mancuso: Relax, Jonesy. You sold me.

* technically Jonesy is not a seaman but a Sonar (Submarines) Petty Officer 2nd class. Rating STS.. Sonar Tech Sub-Surface.
