there is a submarine thread, please post this kind of posting on there in the future. As for this link, it really doesn't say much except putting a bunch of pebble bed reactor related photos in there and claim that 094 uses it. We really don't know either way.
Plus it's a deterrent against banana republics tempting to get their sticky finger on Chinese investments.

ff I thought gunboat diplomacy was consigned to the history books. eg US, telling GB and France to back off when Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal, however I think they are good for flag waving, its a impressive sight having a carrier sailing into harbour.

Yeah right. Why do you think there are so much atrocity against oversea Chinese while there is hardly any against western ex-pats? The threat of force is always there, regardless of whether that's being used or not.
And talking about Gunboat diplomacy, US is the leading modern practitioner -- two active war/occupation happening right now -- and do note US is not even pretending to get UN approval.
