Nice to see an old medievel castle cannon :) on top of the turret.

Good for repelling the dreadnaughts the PLAN are using.

He says almost all of the inhabited islands in the Paracels now have full 4G coverage and is connected with undersea fiber optics to the mainland in Hainan (mainly for military use).

Interesting, makes me wonder if they ran a submarine power cable, it would give the Paracels a larger source of power with generators only used for critical pieces if the line for some reason lose service.

Here are a sequence of pictures of Johnson South Reef (called mabini Reef by the PRC) showing the progression of Chinese activity there between 2012 and now:

Pretty amazing the amount of material that the Chinese have brought in there and the "reclamation," work they have done building that island. Seems like they are building barrier walls too to try and help with and avoid erosion.

The first big typhoon that blows through there will be interesting to see how much, if any, of the material they lose.

Actually the PRC calls it Chigua Reef. Mabini Reef is what the Philippines calls it.

Depends if they build a sea wall around it.

Interesting idea, but it would be extremely expensive though considering the power need for the island I'd imagine very small (max 20MW?)
