The US can continuously send ships "within" 12 miles all they want. The fact is China is still there. Normally we would see some photos as least. That would give a gauge how far "within" 12 miles they really were. If they don't release photos, it's possible they weren't within 12 miles.
lol, if they weren't there you would see those photos posted by Chinese...

I was watching news chinese media, they mentioned they ready to further construction of islands including building nuclear plant to generate power.
I was thinking admiral Harris said those islands are easy target during wars. Would that kind of no good effect with leaked radiation ?? Sorry, since in TV news media I don't have any reference.

It's more likely China's long-game strategic calculations convinced them US leaders don't believe even a small and localized conflict in the SCS is ultimately beneficial to its national interests. We see lots of saber rattling from both militaries, but that's expected because killing people and breaking things are what they do best.

What's not an easy target on the water? During a war? That's pretty much key because if it were all about freedom to navigate international waters, what's to stop the USS Lassen from launching a boat with a bunch of soldiers, landing on shore, and having a picnic? The US can send patrols all they want. It hasn't and will not change that the Chinese are still there and will be permanently. And this shows how carefully orchestrated it was. I read an article that said the USS Lassen also traveled within 12 miles of islands claimed by Vietnam and the Philippines. They didn't have to do that if they were on the right and only China was in the wrong.
That's ludicrous.
