In 2007, at an unknown date, the Chinese navy tests for the first time its new tactical data exchange network HN-905 (Equivalent of Link 16) between an AEW&C aircraft and at least one Type 022 FAC. A PLAN AEW&C aircraft has detected a target at sea and transferred the firing order to one FAC (or more ...), hidden an island with no visibility of the target. Several anti-ship missiles were fired simultaneously and were then guided by another AEW&C aircraft to their target located beyond the horizon.
Other tests of this kind have been made, and this is one of souvenirs distributed to officers participating in the trials. Today, HN-905 is about to be removed from service and replaced by three new data links. The Chinese test, evaluate, improve and change; the cycle repeats itself almost every 5 years
