looks like normal mechanical sweep...thougth I dont think that pics with the stern of the ship, where the happy sailors are pushing the boiu are from the new class....To me it looks like there isent that much room for mechanical gear...

I don't know if this helps, but i remember i saw a news report about 2 days ago on tv (cctv4) news. It showed a recent PLAN minesweeping exercise. Sorry i do not know where to find the source, i just remember i saw it on the news. If my memory is correct it should have been 28/02/07

Well, this looks like the synthetic display a minehuntng sonar scanning within a narrow strip of +/- 10 deg and out to a range of ~200m. This is what you'd expect if you were trying to classify whether a previously detected contact is a mine ... or controlling an ROV .. which is what this red torpedo shaped device slung under the davit is ...

The right side of the display suggests this may be a "replay" of stored data ... and that the sonar transducer can be tilted to scan at different elevations.

　　该舰是一艘新型扫雷舰，新装备多、技术含量高、信息化程度高、操作使用理念和手段与过去相比发生了深刻变化。由于是首制舰，各种部署的编写、预案的制定，人员在实际操作武器中的分工等，都需要借鉴和探索。为确保舰艇尽快形成作战能力，针对担负使命任务特点，该部积极开展以提高反水雷作战能力为核心的强化训练。结合部署制定应急预案进行实际操作，把每个预案细分到每个战位，让每名官兵明确自己的职责，定人定位，检验预案的可操作性。舰领导深入每个战位和各级骨干共同探讨，发挥主观能动性，积极寻求解决方法。经过科学论证反复操演，力求每个舰员的站位、动作更加科学合理。一个预案训练成熟后，他们又打乱人员编制部署，战位内部职手之间职责相互代理，战位与战位之间人员进行互换，既锻炼舰员的团队协作精神，又培养一专多能人才。

　　坚持一步一动，着力强化作战能力训练，使该舰当年列编当年就形成了作战能力。自编的舰艇部署表、应急预案、武器装备使用保养规则，成为了同型舰艇“蓝本”。他们先后参加上级组织的各种演练，在陌生海区和复杂电磁环境下扫除不同型号智能训雷数十枚，成功率达到96％。

says at the end of that it can sweep for over 10 intelligent mines in complex sea condition and electronic environment. With success rate of 96%.

Things are a little different when ...

you are up against a modern mine with microprocessor equipped pistol (- with settings concocted by some perverse mind as possessed only by those who have sold their sold to the dark arts of mine warfare ...)

.. or a not-so-modern mine equipped with a water pressure actuated pistol.

Any minsesweeper can sweep at least ONE mine ...

It just talks about sweeping different types of mines. From 804's command center, they use different types of sonar to find all the mines within few hundred meters radius. And the talks about using the new ROVto use remote control to search, detect and dispose of the mine

3天过去了，各种扫雷训练科目陆续结束，新型扫雷舰的各项战技指标也得到了实际的检验。本次演练中最精彩的一幕——遥控灭雷操演在第3天傍晚悄然开始了。

海上的雾气把夕阳遮蔽起来，海面上红光一片。在804舰的作战指控中心，记者看到，官兵们通过操纵各种探测声呐，可以把数百米半径范围内的海底地貌看得一清二楚。

“右舷×××发现目标！”声呐班长赵云飞报告。这名声呐专业毕业的小伙不仅精通声呐，连雷达也在行。两次参加舰队组织的雷达专业比武，均取得了前3名的好成绩。

“准备投放灭雷具！”舰长蒋传海下令。灭雷具实际上是一个水下机器人，通过导线控制，可以完成探测、定位、灭雷等多项任务。

猎雷班长谭爱峰熟练地操纵着手中的几个手柄。机器人顺利通过吊臂放入水中。脱离束缚的机器人变得轻盈异常，很快驶离母舰，潜入大海深处……

强探测光刺透浑浊的海水。摄像头把海底的一切传回指控中心。在指控中心的指挥下，水下机器人很快就找到了可疑物。在确认无误后，它熟练地将一枚爆炸物轻轻地固定在可疑物上……

几分钟后，海底传来一声沉闷的声响，水中威胁被彻底清除……

扫雷舰艇吨位不大，但堪称是世界上最昂贵的“黄金舰艇”。因为从吨造价来讲，它是所有海军舰艇中的价格最高的。它之所以有这么高的造价，除了材料原因外，新装备多、技术含量高是主要因素。

以新型灭雷具为例，它的体积与一个成年人相仿，不过在水中比游泳健将还灵活。几个手柄就可以控制它上面的5个推进器，使它在水下可以灵活自如地运动，完成一些危险而复杂的动作！

近年来，海军最新型的猎扫雷舰艇全部由张建明率领部队进行试验定型。大队官兵们为新装备定型提出修改建议数千条，也为他们尽快熟悉新装备创造了条件。国内新型猎扫雷舰总设计师卢汉民这样评价大队官兵们：他们既是反水雷装备的使用者，更是反水雷装备的“监造专家”。

2004年，某新型猎扫雷舰列编。张建明带领大队官兵们不懈探索，探索出合理利用扫雷装备的声场、次声场、电磁场扫除浅水区水雷障碍等一系列新战法。

东海之滨，一支保卫共和国海防安全的新型反水雷力量已经悄然崛起！

More pictures of minehunter and minesweeper in shanghai. It's also good to see that 810 looks like a 805 class rather than the 802 class. We should have at least 805, 810, 328, 438 and 840 now. I think there should be more.
