I'm sure Pearl officials would post PLAN pictures soon, it's too good an opportunity for some positive PR and military-military relations to miss.

It was not up to the commanders at Pearl. The web site navy.mil is run by this office...

Chief of Information
Attn: US Navy
1200 Navy Pentagon
Washington DC 20350-1200

Photos are submitted to them. Next an officer in a position of authority over the photos makes the decision which photos to publish...Today the USN posted approximately 80 new photos. About 20 of those are RIMPAC. But yet ZERO photos of the PLAN ships. I'm very disappointed.

I believe that is an PLAN ship moored next to Mercy.

Hopefully, it's just an oversight. I can't fathom the navy intentionally snubbing the PLAN at an invited event. Are you sure the Japanese Navy isn't in charge of distributing pictures?

Nah, Japanese don't have problem with publishing photos of PLAN ships on a daily basis and they have got more of it than any other country around the world (excluding USA) so that's not the case ;) btw: they're probably more concerned about the joint drill with US Navy at the time of RIMPAC off Guam where they will send like 6 or 7 ships rather than 'internationally' established ships like Ise or Kirishima.

Seeing how RIMPAC is off Hawaii, I fully expected Japan to send the Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Soryu, Shokaku, and Zuikaku.

Now THAT is an impressive pic.

Outside of these types of exercises...those two vessels would never be within many, many miles of each other.

Perhaps the crews and officers will get a chance to meet one another, and to come to knpow one another as professionals in some of the extra-curricula activities that are occurring there in Honolulu. Maybe not...but it would be nice to think they will have at least the chance to do so.
