Re: Latest Varyag Pics

Gollevainen is correct once again:) . I researched the Varyag and found no evidence it ever had a nuke powerplant or was designed to have one.

That page above is the best page I have ever seen on Russian CV's. You can all thank Gollevainen for that also.

What's the wearhouse for? As an old sailor I think the wearhouse is storage for equipment used to repair ships or it houses equipment to be installed on ships. You would not store weapons in a structure like that. Weapons on shore are stored in hardend shelters called magazines. At least that's what most nations do.

I'm not sure if that blue building is a warehouse. I think it could be more than that like some kind of military building. I came up with this because Varyag is docked right beside the building.:china:

the ware house was built while the varyag was in the shipyard. and no one is going to bomb the place, so weapons or engines or whatevers is safe in there.

Re: Latest Varyag Pics

Just a small question. But what would stop China from outfitting Varyag with nuclear propulsion? If they could do it in a submarine, they definitely could do it in a surface ship. Or is the space below too limited for it? but then again PLAN could redesign the space.

Any way, it looks like it's going to be used for military purposes. And if so, China has a greater flexibility in using air assets at longer ranges.

Well From those pics we can be sure that nothing radical has happened to Varyag weigth since it left Nikolajev. And that pic of kuznetsov shows where the waterline would be when fully loaded. So Chinese havent fit any engines to it??
