Re: Latest Varyag Pics

her stern section seems to be very high out of water

Large ship sits that way when no ,fuel, weapons, stores(supplies) or aircraft are on board...the ship is empty in other words.

So why the finished painting of Varjag when no equipment is build there ....
and at least - her stern section seems to be very high out of water :confused:
Good points. My feeling is that there may be more there than we can see...and they may install more after this round of painting. Remember, the Varyag is not a "new" ship. She was in pretty bad shape and this level of painting may just be addressing that situation.

As to how she is sitting, my point earlier was that she could have had some propulsion installed and without fuel, stores, ammo, other equipment, etc, she would still sit high like this out of the water.

Time will tell...but I believe the PLAN is investing much more in her than they would in some kind of amusemnt park, particularly since she fits their current needs so well if she became operational, and also since the original holding company for the Casino, very quickly went out of business after she arrived at the Chinese shipyards.

But that's just my opinion.

Re: Latest Varyag Pics

empty means without engines?
If I am right, than "empty" the stern should be deper in water than the bow section; fuel of water, aircraft and ship-petrol, weapons, food and and and will balance the ship - but the stern section is more "out of water" than the bow is,
and if I compare it to the "Bosporus Water line" it seems, it is higher now, so something was deinstalled to reduce the wight, and something other has happened within three yrs ....

so what are the chinese playing at? a trip to the dry dock, they must have done more than just paint the ship. since no internal pics have benn released, we dont know if varyag has had piping and electricity installed. as for radar and sensors, the chinese would have to make a system first.

I disagree with you there..if they did dismantle something from the ship..what? there's nothing big that has to be dismantled right?? I think they painted the stern so it looks like as if it is higher.

True. A Radar and sensor system is essentially important especially for PLAN's carrier.

radar and sensor systems are esential to any ships going offshore....

But to Scezepanskis consern that something is beeing taken out from varyag, rather than installed, Did you think that Chinese migth have put some weigth on the ship to improve its seakeeping during the long towing voyage, and its now beeing taken out??

the Varjag was in drydock only some days - within a month, not more, which is enough time for sandscrapping and painting the hull (esp. in the "underwater-section"); it also should be enough to assemble propeller and rudder, but not more

well, the ship was around 3 years pierside at dalian, and we have seen pix that something was deinstalled ... let me speculate:

the engines was installed in the Ukrainian dockyard, before they closed the deck ... thats why the varjag was so deep by passing the Bosporus.
But they didn't run and after years of rusty and rotten, these engines was unusable and dismantled at the time of pierside in Dalian - scrapped - .... so the Varjag is not so deep in the water now.

and about the equipments:

To me it seems, these hull will not go offshore in the future. The hull will only stay pierside and - well, be used as a casino for entertainment :(

i believe the ukrainians removed the engines and weapons before the sail to china. thats why they needed a tug. floating casinos dont usually have engines or missles on deck.

so what's ur point? The engine was removed long before Varyag was sold.....i don't think Varyag is now floating higher above water than it was....it could be a visionary mistake.
