wait, we 've 3 kinds of pix
1) pix made by aeroplan - the dalian yard is in front of dalian airport, so the planes pass the yard day by day
2) pix made by seaside - it shouldn_t be a big problem to sealords, passing the yard, by telephoto
3) pix made by landside - these pix clearly ar made out from a window or roof in a building opposite of the yard

next:
we don_t have a pic inside the yard, made from the peer or inside the hull
so the ship indeed seems to be unter tight security ....

So ur saying the PLAN is trying to use varyag for military purposes

this would be a logical conclusion

but it also could have some other reasons,
the risk of an accident should be high in the yard, so only workers could pass the entrence ...

China is not really tight about some projects like the Varyag, it is not really considered that secret, the PLAN wil probably do some flight tests on the varvag's deck.

Agreed...but having said that, I have no doubts that many of the pics of the Varyag have in fact been approved for release by the PRC itself.

Ok..If all this is true. And I'm sure it is to some extent. Got a question for you.

Why don't we see more pics of the Varyag than the same ones we see over and over and over again? I would love to see some pics of the progress being made on this ship day by day...No way the PRC government could be that controlling..or could they??

We want new and up to date pics!!!

Hmm... It seems like you all have some points, and the mystery of what really is happening with the Varyag seems to be no closer to a solution.

I agree that the lack of close-up photographies indicates that the ship is placed under quite tiht security, the fact that we have relatively few pictures also indicates that they could be 'leaked' by the Chinese authority wanting to impress analytics, why the ship should be under security if it is just converted to a team park is beyond my understanding

One reason for the lack of pictures could of course be that the average person flying to/from Dalian or passing with a ship don't know the Varyag is there or doesn't care about it, which I have found out is the case with a considerable number of my firends...

And finally, I agree completly that we want more pictures of the ship

well its totally differnet thing to take pictures of that ship than to take pictures of its interior, were we could analyze properly whats going on. Obviously the ship is too big and complex to be fitted out in secrecy, but untill some sort of gizmoes starts to appear on the island, We cannot tell anything more about it. Even if the ship would be converted to civil purposes, I doupt it would be possiple for someone working on it to function as a mule and pass pics there to amuse some militaryforum. We just have to wait and see untill the next new pics comes to CDF...

I did not say their is absolutly no secrecy at all, it is OK to take pics. but The PRC probably just doesnt want people to know exactly what they are doing, that is probably why you don't get close up pictures, like I said, China is normally not super secret about their millitary progress. China has a sort of PLA news on TV where you can actualy see military progress such as the Varyag
