I found this video on youtube. It has no sound. The film was taken aboard the USS Midway (CVA 41) on 29 April 1975. Check out the look of the 1975 era sailors. I want to find a similar film taken aboard my ship the USS Hancock (CVA 19).

Here's a new video of the U.S. Marine MV-22 Osprey landings on the two JMSDF ships, one of their , the Shimokita, L-4002, and one of their , the Hyuga DDH-181.

Great stuff and a great example how cross decking can add significant capabilities. Notice the Chinook also on the Hyuga.
I look foreward to the day we see the same type of cross decking operations with the aboard the newer, larger the JMSDF is currently building.

This is the final lift of any structure onto the hull of the USS Gerald Ford, CVN-78, first of the new Ford Class carriers. This was a relatively small 62 ton lift of the last forward part of one of the forward EMALS catapults.
She is now 100% structurally complete. Painting, remaining interior electrical work, some shafting work, and installation of radar remain before flooding of the dry dock for launch.

I still wish they would make a museum out of her, with all she did, and the innovations she started (ie. nuclear powered aircraft carriers) she more than deserves it. And we could do so if we really wanted to.
Anyhow, that's the way of life. The older ones step aside and go the way of all the earth, while the new babies come on and take their place.
The FORD is nearing completion even as the Enterprise is taken apart.

Omg I just drove past this yesterday at around 10pm light was fading, I couldn't see the aft island was stored, however I will be passing again tommorrow night will have a look exactly where they have put the island
It's due to be fitted next month which means the carrier will be structurally complete and will for the first time look like the real thing
I hope I can get time off for when the carrier is launched and sailed out into the Firth of the Fourth woud be a sight to behold!
