PLAN ASW Capability

One of the greatest assets in ASW is the shipborne helicopter

China seriously needs to up its game with Z9C

Dual hanger on Type 055 is off no use if you have two inadequate helicopters

2 x naval Z20 on each Type 055 should be a must

Dual Dedicated air borne assets for when one is screening the ocean whole other refuels during high threat environment

Even with two helos you couldn't have 24-hour ASW coverage, at least not for long, considering the endurance of each helo would be no more than 4 hours. You would need at least a few ships' worth of helos all taking turns in the air to provide round the clock coverage.

Are you saying two Helos are not better than one ?

With an irregular grid of these tripwires you would divide the entire coastal area into 10 or 20 blocks. You would have real-time information on how many and specifically which subs are in each block, even if you don't know exactly where within the block. Pretty cool, and certainly worth the effort.

However, if such (non-SQUID) tripwires already exist in the northern European region, maybe such a grid does not have to wait for this technology?
I think it is safe to say the sensitiveness of squid is less than the sensitiveness of sonar cables.

Actually, directional long array of sonars would do the job for longer range.

Unlike the preceding P-3, the P-8 lacks a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) due to its higher operational altitude;

its acoustic sensor system is reportedly more effective at acoustic tracking and thus lacking a MAD won't impede its detection capabilities;

India's P-8I is equipped with a MAD per the contract request.

The higher operative altitude means less effectiveness of MAD.

The array sonar can found a nuclear submarine from tens of KMs, but the MAD struggle to detect it from 10 km height.
