Except it would make zero sense for China to develop such a weapon.
It’s massive and continuing investment in its navy means it no longer need to resort to such underhanded methods to attack enemy ships. If anything, such weapons would only serve to pose a threat to Chinese warships.
The only thing developing such a weapon would achieve is to make Chinese civilian ships legitimate military targets during conflicts.

This tweet by East Pendulum talks about satellite or missile tracker Yuan Wang 2 being retired. It also mentions Yuan Wang 4 being used as a target for a DF-21D.
That sounds like an expensive target for the sake of technology. The Yuan Wang 4 would have the equipment to precisely track the ballistic missile up to the point of impact upon the ship.

Well here is the news from some years ago I thought they refloat the Yuanwang 4 ships and towed it to the harbor for further inspection and eventual dismantling

it is reported that PLAN's retired intellegence-ship Yuanwang4 got sunk by AC-killer missle DF21 in one test.
Yuanwang 4 once was PLAN's intellegence ship and retired after one accident. Its displacement is over 10K tons.
Before the test, One cube reflector and lots of antennas were fitted on Yuanwang 4 ,in oder to increase the RCS of the ship .Thus, the RCS of Yuanwang4 seemed as large as one Aircraft carrier ,seen from Radars. In the test of AC-killer missle DF21,Yuanwang4 could play the role of the target ship--one aircraft ship.

It's not a recent photo, as my post pointed out.
it's possible that china anti ship ballistic missile or anti ship hypersonic gliber will have a similar impact of sdi on USA? Whther it's a bluff or not (for me it's not a bluff) it jeopardize a great part of usa naval superiority and strategy, and it's a technology that has not a simple answer
