In the past four years, the PLA Navy has dispatched 13 escort taskforces to the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast successively, totaling 34 warships, 28 helicopters and 10,000-odd officers and men. Up to now, the 13 escort taskforces have wrapped up 500-plus escort missions for 5,000-odd Chinese and foreign merchant ships, and successfully met and escorted, rescued and salvaged over 60 ships.

Why the fat gloves? How do they position their finger on the trigger?

The gloves looks like flame retardant type in case they touch something that's extremely hot on an unknown ship or boat. There's plenty of room for the trigger finger to fire the weapon.

I don't know if the QBZ-95 is as accessorisable as the AR-15 platform, but my M-4 has a curved Magpul trigger guard for use with thick gloves if necessary. If the Chinese military sees a need for it, it's not difficult to achieve at all.

That shouldn't be an issue because the need to operate in cold climate in northern China means the trigger guard have to make provision for gloved finger, alas I'd still agree that it's kinda small in the QBZ95 series...though personal observation of the 95-1 series indicate the trigger guard made slightly larger.

And as you can see, the trigger guard is part of the molded frame, not like the AR-15 which the trigger guard is detachable.

well... this is unexpected, considering the current tension between the 2 nations on the SCS issue. great to see diplomatic visits none the less.

What 'current tensions'?

There has been no major escalation of tensions between China and Vietnam over the SCS. China has had a falling out with the Philippines and only the Philippines in SCS disputes. It was Hillary's meddling that got the other claimants to make noise, and the biased western media that blown the thing out of proportion to make it seem like the entire ASEAN was up in arms with China over the disputed islands more based on wishful thinking than real objective facts.

If Vietnam was trying to stir up tensions with China, why are their own security forces so diligent and speedy in suppressing and dispersing anti-China protests in Vietnam?
