PLAN Anti-Piracy Deployments

The time it takes to get there will be dependent on their "transit" speed. The USN normal transit speed was/is 16 -20 knots. I have no idea what the PLAN transit speed is.

As someone who has traveled a similar distance by ship i.e. From Subic Bay RP to the Persian Gulf. I'd say it should take about a week to 10 days if they cruise straight through. They may make a "goodwill" port visit along the way.

Good call, popeye. Isn't the standard cruise speed of large supply ships 18knots or so?

About the code name for the op, I don't think the PLA traditionally give their ops code names. Am I right?

I would expect slower, but I guess this is a good way to get an idea of how fast they move. Also, it's likely that they will have 093s escorting it on the way there. I'm sure there will be a lot of intelligence gathering on both side.

093 escorting the mission.
I thought that they did not like let their sub go beyond their territorial waters to avoid that USN records their signature.

Yes, I'm sure one of the USN LA class subs is keeping a close eye on the PLAN African Task Force.

By the way has the PLAN given an offical name to the task force? Or this operation?

may be it is the USS Montpellier
it is one of the submarines belonging to the U.S. 5th Fleet

093 escorting? for a UN mission?
What do PLAN gain from that?
What gesture will this be if this were true?

It is customary for the PLAN to have a sub escort a ship on an overseas mission.

Most nations do the same thing. I know the USN has an LA class SSN assigned to every major batttle group.

Other countries don't announce it either. That's standard practice.
