Lieutenant General
Unprecedented first Chinese airforce cross the historic Tsushima straits seprarating korea from Japan. It is the site of Russo Japan war and 1895 war betwen Japan and China
I guess they are probing every egress into Pacific and at the same time timing the Japanese response and collecting their EM Signature. Yup this time around the shinny fighter is not for a show
If the Chinese navy had already had several experiences to enter and work in the Sea of Japan, this was not the case for their colleagues in the Air Force, at least not until yesterday. The latter was content, for three years now it has started its "deep sea maneuvers" according to the official terms, sending its aircraft of all types to cross the first island chain, flying over the Strait or Miyako which lies between Japan and Taiwan, or the Bashi Strait south, located between Taiwan and the Philippines. These are two main "outlet" geographically for China if it wants to move eastward into the Pacific Ocean.
There are of course other possible paths, such as through the Philippine Islands from the south via the South China Sea, or the north by successively passing the Tsushima Strait between Korea and Japan and the Sea of Japan and finally through the Japanese archipelago to regain the northern Pacific.
But the maneuvers carried out yesterday by the five Chinese equipment in the Sea of Japan are not intended to cross it, but to conduct operations whose nature was not disclosed explicitly. The PLAAF's spokesmen simply indicates that it was a "training" part of the annual programs and that the operation, led to an end despite being "disturbed by foreign aircraft" not aimed at any country or geopolitical context in particular.
According to , two bombers H-6K , two fighters Su-30MKK and aircraft SIGINT Tu-154M / D flew over the Straits of Tsushima this Monday, December 18 and then entered the sea from Japan.
The two Chinese hunters have turned around after having escorted the three other planes to pass the Strait, probably for a matter of autonomy, knowing that no Chinese supply ship were sent to accompany the trip and the place of the separation is over 1 000 km from the nearest Chinese coast.
The same report also indicates that Japanese fighter jets were sent to intercept their Chinese colleagues, and Yonhap, the largest South Korean news agency says, citing information from the Joint Chiefs of Joint Staff that devices Chinese have entered the air defense identification zone (ADIZ) from South Korea to 10:02 am local time, and that hunters F-15K and KF-16 ROKAF were dispatched to monitor the crossing .

But Japan and South Korea are the only countries affected by this event "unprecedented" of the Chinese Air Force, since another plane long range electronic jammer Y-8G of the PLAAF has also made a full turn of the island of Taiwan in the same morning. The Taiwanese military has responded by sending warplanes and ships to follow the Chinese appliance throughout its path, according .
