Re: PLAAF Pictures Thread 4

These are the best flight line photos of the PLAAF I've seen. They look very real and not staged. Check out the G-suits! Notice the maintenance crew working on the aircraft.

PLAAF wing commander, Colonel Yang Yongfei, takes flight..

Cool, that is one of the few times I have seen HMS in operational use with the PLAAF.

We have known forever that they have and use them, but there are hardly ever any pictures of them being used.

Those are great pix. I hope we continue to see these sort of real photos from the PLA in general.

Re: PLAAF Photos!!

MKKs were primarily used for air to sea strike missions by the PLAN from the start. Once the naval J-10As enter PLAN the air to air capabilities of these planes may become even more deemphasized.

The MKKs are the PLAAF's birds, and are used primarily for precision strike afaik. It is the MK2s that are the anti-shipping specialists and they are the ones assigned to the PLANAF.

I just realized by Col Yang Yong Fei looked so damn familiar is because he was in a CCTV documentary on a Flanker unit (my guess is a PLAAF MKK unit) as posted by A.Man.

A Detailed J-11 Training Videos

Those pictures were probably taken the same time the documentary was made.

Although I would be keen to know if all of the pictures were taken at the same base.

In the second image, you have some single seat Su27/J11As, while the rest has MKKs in them.

If the fat pilot (not THAT fat pilot before anyone starts) in pictures 2 and 6 is the same, then that might be an indication that the PLAAF has distributed its Su30s amongst Su27 and J11 regiments. If they have done that, then it would appear that the PLAAF is trying to make all it's flanker pilots multi-role capable.

There are many implications from there, but I will stop myself getting too far ahead before we have confirmation that the PLAAF ha indeed mixed its MKKs with the rest of the Flanker fleet.

MK2s are improved MKKs. That was my original intention.
