Re: PLAAF Photos!!

Congrats to China and the PLAAF accomplishments! I read somewhere in Yahoo news last week that the PLA is adding two more additional aerobatic team, is that true? Does any members know anything about it?

Helicopters perform aerobatic maneuvers on Sept 15 during a flight show at the China International Helicopter Exposition, which runs from Sept 15 to Sept 18 in North China's Tianjin municipality. The expo is the first of its kind in Asia. More than 200 companies from over 20 countries and regions are attending. The expo will be open to the public from Sept 17 to Sept 18. Does anybody know that the PLAAF aerobatic team will ever switch from the J-10A platform to J-10B version?

There shouldn't be a need to. It would be like asking thunderbirds to switch from F-16Cs to F-16Es... The differences are mainly in avionics, engines and that it's a newer aircraft. For an aerobatic team you really just nee them to look good and fly good, which J-10A can satisfy for the forseeable future and beyond.

I'm not even sure if USAF thunderbirds will switch to F-35 eventually given its controversial maneuvering and that you don't need super expensive stealth fighters for a good show. Unless there was political motivations of course.

The USAF has stated they intend too retire the Whole Falcon Fleet too be replaced with F35A's Although In the past the Thunderbird's did for a short time fly Trainers I very much doubt you will ever see that again A more likely out come will be Thunderbird's flying Lightnings.

The Question of the J10 vs J10B depends on the pattern the PLAAF establishes for there Demonstration teams. US demonstrators use fighters that have been pulled form the front lines and then given a rebuild this means that the FA18 of F16 flown in your local air show are not brand new but rather combat vets. they tend too get there new fighters near the end of that versions life cycle. Not the top of the line.

If the PLAAF Fallowed this pattern then don't expect J10B's anytime soon not until they start putting the J10 out too pasture. If they established some other pattern then well who knows.

Re: PLAAF Pictures Thread 4

These are the best flight line photos of the PLAAF I've seen. They look very real and not staged. Check out the G-suits! Notice the maintenance crew working on the aircraft.

PLAAF wing commander, Colonel Yang Yongfei, takes flight..
