It's all about the cheap labour imo. They can afford to hire people to do work that's not all that important, because they need to find employment for these people. If you ever go to China, it would really amaze you (like it did to me) to see some of the occupations they have there.

In these photos below the captions describe officers doing maintenance checks. I don't get it. I've never ever seen officers in any of the US services doing maintenance. Pre-flight inspections yes....maintenance..NO! If these captions are correct is this standard procedure in China's Air Force? If so..Why??

Looks like a US Mk76 practice bomb to my trained eye. Very similar.

Ok.. but these men are officers.. I still don't see the need to send officers out to "turn wrenches"
. Maybe they don't have their maintenance people trained fully because of the short enlistment time of two years..
I need to stop comparing the PLA to the US Armed Forces. The Chinese just do things differently. Really different!

no,just some people enlistment time of two years,they keep other better performence people stay more than two years.

By maintenance checks could it be that they're checking how well the maintenance people did their jobs? (Kind of like pre flight inspections?)
I think it's just a matter of phrasing; these captions from PLA daily and such are very inaccurate; and none of the photos actually show officers turning wrenches or such.

I like the new scheme a LOT more! especially with the darker blue! What's ironic is the red/white/blue color scheme is coming really close to thunderbird colors!
I hope the PLAAF demo team colors are just coincidental and not trying copycat TB colors because that would be totally lame!

The new paintwork is definitely better. The oldone reminds me of an oversized toy due to its vivid colorations.
