PLAAF air disaster

This just in: A PLA transport aircraft has just crashed in the Anhui province. The article doesn't say what type of plane it was, but it was carrying 40 people. Could this show that the air force probably experiences regular techincal problems? Heres the article. Any comments welcome. Its bad news for them if it was an Il-76 - those planes are valuable to the PLAAF transport section.

Come on man who cares about a plane when so many lifes are lost.

It might be Y-8 as IL76 usually carries more on corriere service.

I didn't suggest lives didn't matter - I was merely stating a fact:mad: .
Accroding to the article, 5 out of the 40 people were killed, so it must have been a reasonably soft crash (then again I could be wrong this is an early report). It probably wasn't a large aircraft like an il-76 as you said - it was an interior transport, probably a Y-7/8.

for all we know, this plane could have been a 737 or a tu-154. The il=76s are deployed with transport and paratroop divisions, not VIP.

anyhow, how do we know that all 40 died? It just said the plane had 40 people.

Heres your awnser - unfortunately all 40 did die. And there's going to be a full military investigation, so it sounds pretty serious. Still no news on what plane it was though - but note that the article says JET crash, so it may have been VIP. Sorry Siddharth if you fell that offends the dead.

OMG

Does this have something to do with the June 4, 1989 incident?

:(

Why, what's your point? Do you think someone is punishing China for Tianammen square? I don't think this plane was brought down by a bomb or hijacked by seperatists. Chinese dissidents wouldn't dare go that far. It would mean harsh reprisal for the government if they found out. Security on the air bases is to tight for that sort of terrorist attack.

Looking through the Chinese language sites, some other "facts" come to light.

Villagers described some of the passengers as wearing civilian clothes, not military. Moreover, there are women and children among the passengers. Apparently, some of the deceased are related.

Somebody said that this is probably some officer making private use of public property.

Another "theory" is this:

不是大家关心的空警和圆盘。
是一架运七军用运输机,机上除4名机组人员外,其余36人为**部队战士,其中有2名军官。飞机失事时正执行军事运输任务,而不是什么科研试飞任务。
向遇难官兵致敬!
这是继2003年海军361号潜艇失事造成70多人遇难后的又一重大损失!

It's a Y-7 with a crew of 4, 36 soldiers and 2 officers on a routine transport mission.

Which is true? Who knows?

Gentlemen, any mention of Tiaammen is a forbidden subject in this forum whereas it brings on flaming and the usaul political retoric. I will not edit your post about this subject. Just keep the thread focused on the unfortunate air disaster of the PLAAF and refrain from any disscusion of 4 June 1989.. Thank you.

On some chinease forum they say its a Y-8 balance beam AWAC test bed and all onboard were engineers. If thats true then its a real big big tragedy.

Well so many stories floating, we can only wait and watch. :(

PS. DPRKPTboat, its OK buddy. But nothing is more than human life.
