Red Guard said:the only reason the marine combat dress(if you are talking about this) is changed is because they don't want a "standing out" unit in the force. in case you didn't notice, all the combat/work dress on the field are the same style. just the difference of colour.
and another thing changed to the marine troop is the cap. they used to use beret, black ones with a navy shield on it. that uniform was designed by a marine colonel and now it's changed, china doesn't encourage such invention. so i say, today's chinese uniform sucks! the point the clothes sucks is because the soldiers today SUCK! no glory, no honour, no pride, NOTHING! NOTHING AT ALL!

ROC armed forces' insignias are not the "tradition of chinese", the plum flower as you may say is the tradition of GMD. it is their "national flower". and i don't like it very much. it seems too weak! and ROC doesn't have a good tradition, for their years, most of them they are fleeing from battles and so on. but for PLA, we beat up japanese, we created the miracle of 60 thousands defeat 80 thousand defeat. and we beat up US, and also didn't let russian win that east on the border.

I don't see so much difference between those and the ones we have now. Also, there isn't much difference between the uniform of different ranks. It's easy for ordinary soldiers to get confused on how their officer looks like.petty officer1 said:I found those pictures on the web (Don't read chinese). but i am sure it is for PLA. And i can kinda tell the army, navy, and airforce.
But Wow! i know it is probabily concepts but, more and more they are looking like the west! I hope this will be ture.
