That's very likely what will happen. Maintenance for military assets is very demanding and expensive business, and if even the US cannot keep it up at a good standard, I doubt anyone else can aside from China.I feel like they could reasonably just keep doing these exercises around Taiwan and just watch as their airforce slowly falls apart.
EW is increasingly becoming a bare minimum as well. With the abundance of MANPADs, I would argue that for helicopters to be survivable on the frontline even with air superiority, DIRCM should be a bare minimum these days. TW might not have good air defense but they do have alot of MANPADs that could pop out of nowhere. EW and other more expensive options could be included for Marines and SpecOps only.
Helicopters shouldn't be used on frontline anymore; even fast drones can take them down. Helicopters should only be used to snipe targets from far away or transport. DIRCM and EW might save them against a country like Venezuela, but Taiwan is a different case and using them on the frontlines is recklessWith the abundance of MANPADs, I would argue that for helicopters to be survivable on the frontline even with air superiority, DIRCM should be a bare minimum these days. You'll need many helicopters just for mass transportation of troops and equipment inland efficiently not to mention other utilities that may arise during a AR. Also being on the frontline is quite literally the purpose of attack helicopters.Helicopters shouldn't be used on frontline anymore; even fast drones can take them down. Russia Ukraine war showed that helicopters in the front lines of contested areas isn't gonna work. You'll need many helicopters just for mass transportation of troops and equipment inland efficiently not to mention other utilities that may arise during a AR. Giving Taiwan way too much credit there.Russia Ukraine war showed that helicopters in the front lines of contested areas isn't gonna work.
