That is a thick/heavy barrel on that one, hopefully it's cold hammer forged.More images of Norinco's CS/LR36.

Pretty apparent as a HK-416 copy, with a gas regulator up front.
Does it use a long stroke (AKM) or short stroke piston (FAL, 416)?

Should be short stroke... the weapon it seems to be based on (416) is a short stroke... also nowadays pretty much all Chinese gas operated rifles are short strokes (type 81, 95, 03, 191 etc)...That is a thick/heavy barrel on that one, hopefully it's cold hammer forged.

It seems that the 338 model they're using has been modified. The stock is of a different design and the area around the magazine well seems to have been redesigned as well. (And ofc the muzzle brake, but thats obvious)The first rifle in the foreground is the CS/LR35, which fires 7.62x51mm rounds. The rest are a different model firing .338 rounds.

That sight is way too high above the barrel. It is An additional 2-3" above iron sights which is already fairly high up.I have screen captured the holographic sight used by the PLA
