PLA Small arms

There's just one 8.6mm and it looks more like dressing up the ballistic rig, plus the PLA still as yet make a decision on the new "proper" sniper system, from the calibre to match-grade ammo to low-MOE optics and etc.

The rest are on the export catalogue.

The gatling gun would be quite a something, if the PLA adopt it, from the RHIB boats to the (perhaps) future Z-20...

On the contrary, I'm quite certain that at least two .338 rifle designs are being pursued:

1. The rather crude "XY 8.6mm", which I doubt would be its finalized designation:

2. The yet-unnamed rifle from the Hunan Ordnance Industry Group:

The CS/LM12 and CS/LM5 would be suitable additions to helicopter door mounts or perhaps gun pods on attack variants of the Z-20/9. There is photo evidence that the smaller Gatling gun is in service with their airborne troops.

Will that's two of 'em but both looks like dressed-up ballistic test rig, only the Hunan Ordnance Industry Group's dressed up "better", but is still looks like crap in my opinion...we need to find some real shooters to enlighten us what's wrong, though.

And given the current designation system, the final designation of the winner wil be QBU-1* (if they doddle it till 2020s, then it'd be QBU-2*)...

In any case, if they try to sell it "as is" in the export market...I can imagine gun magazine like Soldier Of Fortune will have a few pages of laughs, about "how lack of design sense the Chinese arms manufactorum is, churning out such soulless design", though I can imagine there are harsher words available.

I'd imagine that these designs would be incrementally improved as per customers' requests, or a lack of customers in the first place. If all else fails, there is nothing stopping them from procuring a few Magpul stock/grip clones. :p

Honestly, Chinese firearms design isn't really that disparaged by the firearms folks, particularly those in the know, because those who have used Chinese arms such as the Type 81 rifle et al appreciate the overall package. Just check the Canadian firearms sites for example to see feedback on them.
