PLA Small arms

There was also a shot of a red dot sight just before the 'chrismas tree'.

Considering how much these things cost and how much your average PLA trooper earns, I find it very hard to believe one of them would have bought that for laughs, and I doubt his CO would allow him to use it even if he did buy it. Certainly not in front of the TV cameras anyways.

The PLA probably bought a small number number of such systems for testing and evaluation and sent them out to select units.

I don't think the PLA would turn their nose up at something just because it was made by the private sector. If a private operation came up with an amazing piece of kit for a reasonable price, you can bet the PLA would snap it up (the company as well most likely). Thus it would be unwise not to buy some samples of what is available in case they missed something really useful.

Is there any reliable info about the actual training of the average (not the special forces or the highlighted 'modern' units since these are always pampered) pla soldier; how many live rounds is he expected to fire in a year; how many days a year is he to spend in the open during exercises?
In europe with dwindling 'open' space, millitary training facilities and firing ranges are becoming both rare and small in size, being sacrificed to rural construction, so actual live size training is becoming rare!

If your Russian your answer would be the the NRS (NRS = Nozh Razvedchika Strelayushiy, or Scout Shooting Knife)- 1 it fires a silent 7.62 x42mm SP4( the Same round as the PSS.) round from the base of the handle
There is also the NRS-2 and the NRS-3 Scout knife they add more rounds offering three and then five rounds
2. a few years back there was the norinco Type 85 pistol Bayonet from China fired the .22Rf, with three rounds available it looks like this is a update.

I think Arnold Schwarzenegger used two of those cool "shooting knives" in his Commando movie (one of my favorites).
